Unless HuskyNan has changed her handle to "UConnfan1", I believe I'm free to decide which posts I do and don't respond to.
Aww... Come on... You were whining about having to defend Tennessee (probably tongue-in-cheek?). Given that comments were made that there were "9-10" teams better over the past 5 years and you came up with "only 8", it hardly seemed worth "defending" them. Didn't mean to imply what you "should or should not" be posting - sorry if it sounded that way!!!

Is this board always this defensive and crazy? LOL! ;)

Actually, I said that 8-9 teams have been better than Tennessee in the past 5 years, and turns out it's 8. So no idea what Vowel was defending!

But he did come up with a nice list.

Yea, haven't figured out how to line up columns like that on here.

Use Courier font. And don't put 2 spaces in a row - gotta use some character ( eg, underscore) to make each entry the Same length across rows.

On the table,
Note that its only measuring NCAA performance. While by far the most important, seems like the regular season should count for something. Tho Baylor lost in the sweet 16, I'd still say thy had a better season than Georgia, which lost in the elite 8.

And peaking of Georgia, I was a bit surprised to see them at #13 given how much abuse Landers gets.

Would you be willing to make a chart for the last 10 years? It would be interesting to see the differences. One I suspect Tenn would be ranked 2nd. However I'm more interested to see which teams dropped out from the current list. That would indicates teams on the rise and the added teams to the list would show teams that are on the decline. Teams that make both list would be the most consistent team during the 10 years. Thanks

Damn you for making me defend Tenn.

Cal also didn't even make the field in 2 of the past 5 years. Nor did Penn St. And Ky & MD missed one.

Last 5 years
( 1) UConn -- 3 NC, 5 F4, 5 S16, 26-2 NCAA Record
( 2) Baylr -- 1 NC, 2 F4, 5 S16, 17-4
( 3) Stanf -- 0 NC, 4 F4, 5 S16, 19-5
( 4) NDame -- 0 NC, 3 F4, 4 S16, 16-5
( 5) TAMU_ -- 1 NC, 1 F4, 3 S16, 12-4

I'll give it a try next time I come up with something.....if I can remember that long. ;)

Nice work.

A simple stat I like when measuring performance-over-time in win-or-go-home competitions is number of games played compared to maximum possible games that could be played. Over the last five years, for example, a team could have a maximum of 30 games had they made it to the championship game each year. UConn played 28 games or 93.3% of the possible games in which they could have participated. By counting the number of games participated in you indirectly, albeit imprecisely, include an approximation of winning percentages. For example, if a team wins four of the five tournaments but misses the 5th entirely, they will have played 24 games or 80% of the possible games they could have played.

For the 13 teams in this study, the results are:

UConn 93%
Stanford 80%
Baylor 70%
Notre Dame 70%
Oklahoma 60%
Duke 60%
Louisville 57%
Texas A&M 53%
Tennessee 53%
Kentucky 47%
Maryland 43%
Georgia 40%
California 37%

No, let the presses run, Ozzie. You are badly missing the point and what was posted was not obvious by any means.

Let me put this a little more plainly, so that it can be more readily understood by all.

Elite athletes, even as adults, let alone as teenagers, have a heck of a lot of difficulty in grasping the temporary nature of their athletic gifts.

Making plans for post athletic life does not come easy. As you may know the vast majority of retired professional bb players are broke, busted and bankrupt within 5 years after retirement, no matter how much money they may have made.

Yeah...It's surprising what can happen even with a college degree....oh wait.......

I will tell you right now if I'm a guessing man playtime is a big issue for Sierra. In college I would expect her to play the wing. With a short roster Sierra will see a lot of playtime at UConn. With a roster on another team of 12+ her playtime just might be limited.
The advantages to playing at UConn over her other choices. Every game is televised so her family can watch her, tape her and watch her again. UConn is close to NY so her family can travel by car to attend her games. Her brother is already here. UConn is built to be in the Final 4 and win more National Championships over the next 3 years. If she dosnt choose UConn I would be very surprised.

With Calhoun and Wilson, (please???) UCONN would be at 12. If Westbeld or Belton were added in, we would be at 13. So hopefully UCONN is not going to have a short roster when/if Calhoun is here.

I have a feeling they're all waiting for Wilson to say yes to UConn. Just a huncth no inside info.

Much as most would wish that to happen, if it does, it won't be any time soon. From reports we've read, she's not even come out with a list of schools yet and I believe she said she wants to take most, if not all, of her official visits. Is April 2014 the latest signing period that kids from that class can make up their minds? It would not surprise me to see her go all the way to the end... unless she decides shortly after taking her official visits...

A friend of mine told me Belton was hurt in an AAU game this week.

Anyone know for sure??

From everything I'm hearing its between UConn and South Carolina.

She hurt her ankle and had to be carried off the court yesterday.

I'm not sure if she played today, but her team was eliminated.

I put it a new thread. Chk it out.

Maybe following the Super Show?

Great players do not worry about other players on the team. They know they are good and they let their talent guide their decision. She is playing Coy.............She is a better Tiffany Hayes and she does not fall down as much LOL!!!

It's not the falling down that's important, it's the getting back up that counts.
