Other than a shorter flight, why do you think Hartford is harder to get to and/or less convenient than say ND? One has an international airport and is the state capital, the other is somewhere on the Indiana-Michigan border.

Never heard it described that way; brilliant!

Nothing has been said about Sedona and Notre Dame. I’m just trying to figure out why we make something out of nothing! The way some of you second guess your own opinions is baffling to me. Make a decision and stick with it...it’s just that simple. If you’re wrong then I’m sure it’s not the first time. I can almost guarantee it won’t be the last. Having said that, I think she will be committing to UCONN very soon!

They don’t, but family and friends do. I think the facilities, location, ease of travel, hotels all play a small role. Her family will need to travel to see her play if she chooses UConn. Hartford is not easy to get to from any town USA. Sometimes it is the little things they push a decision one way or the other.
That's the truth. iirc and I can't remember the recruit's name but we lost a top recruit when her dad slipped on ice and broke a leg.

For what it's worth, there are direct flights from DFW to the small airport in South Bend, IN. Not sure what kind of plane you fly on. But to get to DFW from the Austin, TX area, you have a 3.5 hour drive.

If Sedona wants to fly out of AUS (45 minutes from her HS), she will have to take a connecting flight to both South Bend (4h30) and Hartford (5h15). Neither has a direct. It really isn't that much of a difference. Notre Dame is ~15 mins from SBN and UConn ~45 from BDL. A small difference in respect the the large difference between UConn and ND :D

And UCLA lost Christyn when her mother had the bike accident there. :D

If I recall correctly, this was Jayne Appel - a really good player who wound up going to Stanford. She was likely headed there anyway, but if things had done better on visit, perhaps she would have wound up in Storrs.

and now we wait......................would be surprised if SP doesn't make at least one other visit before her final decision but sure would be pleased to be wrong..............

I doubt Sedona has any intention of dragging this out. I suspect we’ll hear something next week, if not sooner.

Time to bring in the Domer, who has arranged and taken flights for my daughter, son and me too many times to count. The most common way to get into South Bend by air are via connections, most notably O'Hare. There is a puddle (actually Lake Michigan) jumper between O'Hare and South Bend that is exceedingly short in time and wipes out having to drive around Chicago and through Indiana. There are also other connections (Detroit) to South Bend International (the flights to Canada upgrade what is a small, but efficient airport to "international" status).

(Many students also take a bus that picks up travelers from the Chicago airports and drives to South Bend, dropping students off on campus. I highly doubt athletes need to do this....)

For NY-metro area types, there are a couple of directs, but that wouldn't help the Prince family. That said, South Bend is not easy to get to, but that's part of the deal.

At this point, at least in regards to Ms. Prince, there have been absolutely crickets in regards to her visiting ND, so that could be a moot point. The summer session started this week (returning players, plus frosh Sam Brunelle and Anaya Peoples are on campus), so this would be an optimal time to come (if she does). As Coco pointed out, Prince played on international teams with Peoples last summer and with Abby Prohaska in 2016, so there are some connections. She's also in contact with ND prospect Deja Kelly.

Stay tuned....take the puddle jumper..

Next time I head to the Chicago area, will you be my travel agent? ;)

Wait, what? To say single out Hartford vs. Storrs is silly as Hartford is easier to get to than Storrs. 2nd is Hartford has an airport close by vs. numerous other programs who don’t . Also, the situation your describing for Sedona is also odd that her parents will not be flying regularly to see her play games in Connecticut be it Hartford or Storrs. They will see her in Texas at Houston or Oklahoma for Wichita St or Tulsa or Tulane all Of which are closer to her.
Last is this didn’t seem to push away MoJeff or KLS or Phee’s families. Please don’t be reaching for straws here and try to be more logical. Obviously a student-athlete can have any number of reasons to refuse a school but the one you mentioned has never been a reason listed from my 10+ years following the team closely.

For those (like me) who didn't know that story...

I had never seen that article before. Thanks for linking it. It was written before her visits to Texas and UCONN. One thing that stood out was that a lot of her narrowing or expanding of her list was because of other players she had played with or against.

She said she really liked playing with Harris of SC and Holmes of Texas. If that's common among recruits, and I have no reason to believe it's not, it should bode well for UCONN. After all, who DOESN'T want to play with Paige?

Hopefully they are just working out the details of the scholarship and transfer while getting some medical treatment commitments and we'll see a confirmatory social media post soon that she is a Husky....

I noticed the same thing - thought it was interesting that peer relationships re-activated her interest in some schools even after she had eliminated them based on in-person visits.
