Sometimes when you want to move a player, you play him and showcase him. The Sox just put the Panda on the DL. I wonder what that means.

It means he's an out of shape malcontent who won't listen and is eroding the team unity and manager/GM's authority. Assuming there is no clause in his contract requiring him to be in suitable physical condition to be a professional athlete, the team's only recourse is to take-away playing time and even roster spot and also shame him into getting himself in playing condition. Or to trade him next to nothing plus continue to pay likely 75% of that salary for 16,17,18 and 19. Quickly turning into a Carl Crawford situation.
