I know but only once and it’s not in conference play... and Hurley is already hated.
Yes, but URI PC is a very heated rivalry. Hurley and Ed are close. We are better now so I suspect that PC vs. UConn at both gyms will become a thing.

It will be double round robin we will both play everyone in conference home and away once a year.

I think he means he thinks it's going to blossom into a rivalry

I selfishly like the move back to the big east..... I hate to see the Cincy rivalry end because it became such a great game to go to with my fellow UC alum. However it also allows me to not feel awkward rooting against my alma mater every time UConn came here. It allowed me to finally see UConn basketball live and I’ll always be glad that happened after dreaming of seeing the Huskies as a kid.

It also allows me to go to more road games. I will be at every Xavier, DePaul and Butler game from here on out whereas I was only able to see the UC game each year
Fellow UC alum, going to miss seeing UConn playing @ UC, but couldn’t be happier for the move. Both as a Cincy resident & UConn fan, there is nothing attractive about the AAC (long term). Everyone keeps talking about the “next move”, and we found ours before the mass exodus.

Let Hurley do Hurley and enjoy the success!

Big day for that one Uconn twitter account that operated as an anti-AAC agitator for the past 7 years. No escalators I think the account name is.

Uconn working with Indy schools and other big east schools to create new G5 type FCS football conference? Uconn, Umass, BYU, Army, Nova....
Rumor is Army is going to AAC as a football only.
Plus another BB only school.
The queue will be a mile long including BE schools.
I think you mean FSB , FCS is the old Div 1A ,
This is a dumb move , but not unexpected.
Re- Higher Randy was a big clue.

I'm so excited. I've grown up in the American and I've never gotten to see UConn play in the Big East. Closest I've gotten to seeing that is watching Kemba's game winner against Pitt on youtube 10 times every month. Chills. Let's go!
It's not the same Big East. No powerful schools such as Syracuse, Boston College, Miami, Virginia Tech, Pitt, WVU, and Notre Dame. At least.

If Army takes our spot in the AAC, that would not be a good look for us, except the chance to show that a successful, ahem, northeast program can be possible.

The next round of expansion will be the leftovers of the Big 12 adding members.

If they are forced to take Houston or Memphis or such schools, they are going to get creamed with their new contract. They are not adding markets with those schools.

Obviously, the current B12 schools don't see any value with what's out there or they would have added a few years ago. BUT, if they are forced to add, they will add complete wipeouts in terms of interest or markets. These are schools that are not worth more than $5-6m a year to the conference.
Uh. Houston is the 4th largest city in the US.

The rumor, more accurately, is that AAC wants Army as football only. Exactly zero Big East schools will attempt to become basketball only schools for the AAC.

Yes exactly. Big East in name only.

I knew this was coming, posted on this over and over and attacked last Spring by Stunning Steve & crew when I maintained joining the NBE was our future and in our best interest. Here's why.

1. Restores our NE recruiting advantage which year in and out has a bounty of kids who know how to play, have great to elite athleticism and can flat out hoop.

2. Of all AAC schools membership is least beneficial to UConn.

Travel: Notwithstanding Temple, the remaining schools are all hikes. Long flight travel, having to play and turnaround and do it again is a grind. Those travel miles wear hard on players physically and mentally and undoubtedly contribute to losses. Mostly a mental grinding in my opinion.

No geographical rivalries: Recruiting, recruiting, relationships, relatuonships, recruiting, recruiting.

Easy to lose your way: Back on the map for all of New England, NYC, and the Atlantic Coast. Respect SNY but New England and Atlantic Coast media were disincentivized following AAC membership. I lived in Philly until 2016 and I can tell you outside of us busting up Temple and Nova in the 2014 tournament there was no Philadelphia metro media coverage for UConn. I will say local high-school players and those in recruiting circles think well of us though.

3. I got killed when I said a relocation of AAC headquarters southward suggested a conference shift away from the value assigned to UConn by the conference Exhibit A: Aresco and Co. media contract. Take it or leave it deal for us.

BC, Miami, VT??? Butch, this is a basketball conference and most resumes of all schools outshine these once in a blue moon schools where BB is down the totem. Every single school in the BE basketball is king. UConn is no different despite what you want to believe

If Army signs on, Navy may follow. Add UMass. Nova upgrades. Perhaps Temple bails and joins the Big East in all sports. That's six for a small football conference.

Everyone join me in hating Creighton now! They are the absolute worst. Cheaters, players are punks, and rich entitled preppy fans in sweater vests.

Not sure how one can hate a school that has a Dollar Beer Night....

Add BYU too right? A little far away but they’re looking for a home.

Very doubtful Temple would leave what they have now in the AAC for whatever concoction gets put together in Northeast football. They've had success in the AAC and a fertile recruiting ground within their home state.

Even if you are not happy about this move, how can you not be excited about the fact that for ONCE, we actually were in control of where we landed. Our leadership finally got off their butts and did something proactive instead of wasting away in the abyss of not knowing where our next destination is.
