This is great. I am by no means an expert on the Star Wars series. I enjoyed the prequal trilogy, including the pod race. Just recently watched The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and all I kept thinking to myself was, this scalitoing sucks. Reading these posts made me think that there is plenty of material for some MST 3000 footage. Got me to thinking, which had a better look, Crow T. Robot or Kylo Ren? I'll go with the Robot. Ren was completely, 100% awful.

Rey is the only new character I liked about the new sequals. Han is always entertaining.

And thats a fine opinion to have. But these first two are trash too. Utter Garbage. So I guess we can come to the consensus that the Star Wars franchise hasnt made a redeeming movie since the early 80's.


Sorry y'all missed it.

Because I will accept that people dont like the prequels. Fine. Nobody denies that there weren't a plethora of screw ups in them.

But If you hate the prequels but love TFA and TLJ, then I automatically invalidate the opinion of that poster. Because you have blinders on.

My opinion Is not that the prequels were great. Its that the first 2 of this trilogy are WORSE.

I get that media/art is subjective but I can't trust anyone's taste if they think TFA and TLJ are objectively bad movies. Put them up against truly bad movies and they start to look like masterpieces.

whelp you have a point.

But at the same time. If you are going to bombard the market every year with a new edition you better be serving up better than mediocrity. Because the credibility issue is a slippery slope in public perception.

These are not stand-alone good movie vs bad movie scenarios. It taints the franchise as a whole.

I don't think the movie is that great. I just think Rocko equating quality w/ box office success is lame.

Despite your opinion, The Force Awakens and Rogue One were very generally well received by fans and critics alike. Despite my opinion, I can admit TLJ was very divisive. I think its fair to say 2 of the first 3 movies were successful.

I think there is more to the bad box office showing than simply this being a bad movie-

1) Gossip about the on set drama during production
2) Only promoting the movie for 3 months
3) backlash from TLJ
4) Summer release when December had been doing very well for Star Wars.
5) Memorial Day weekend is not great for movies- Solo had the 7th biggest Memorial Day opening weekend of all time.
6) The Avengers, Deadpool, and Incredibles all coming out in close proximity. Going to the movies is expensive.
7) People being apprehensive about a new Han Solo
8) Prequel-itis

Disney botched a lot of this, but I think it safe to say this movie was never going to do as well as the previous 3 and it has nothing to do with if the movie was good or not. Even if the movie was good I still think it would have had a disappointing run.
 
Also Rocko is definitely one of the Red Pill guys who would rather see Lucasfilm fail then turn this around simply because he didn't like the new movies. If he can't enjoy them he would rather that they ceased to exist. They were better when the female lead was running around in a metal bikini.

I like the new movies even more knowing they make people like him so upset.

Watching Star Wars to own the dupes.

Haven’t seen a new Star Wars movie since the prequels. Never cared much for Star Wars in the first place.

Disney will lose money when you factor in marketing bringing up costs to at least around 400. And the movie makes less money as more goes to the theatres the further away from opening weekend you get. A Star Wars movie will likely fail to turn a profit. Congrats on your bold prediction of 300 though lmao did you forget that this is Star Wars, a franchise with some of the largest cache in entertainment?

Where are you getting 264 from? Because from this link I’m not seeing anything close. Try 150 after its first weekend and I doubt it made another 115 its second

That was when I completely lost my ability to suspend my disbelief for the entire Star Wars series. I loved Empire but I never came back after Jedi.
