The most ironic part of this is the Big East added members from the Missouri Valley, Atlantic 10 and HORIZON LEAGUE and you’re advocating staying with them

As a matter of fact, exactly half of the league opponents we have were added to the Big East from a “low major” (CUSA, Horizon, MVC, A10). But we won’t talk about that
Don’t forget the ones we accepted from the Yankee Conference

At least it’s not in 3 time zones like the new Big XII.

And the Big East has only 3 members outside the Eastern time zone. The Big XII has only 3 members actually in the Eastern TZ - and none of those in the Northeast.
Maybe the NEC is more your speed.

Glad to see only 41.7 percent of the men's basketball board posters think we should turn down a B12 invite if offered. The Women's board is even more supportive of the B12 idea and i'm sure 100% of our football fans want to join a power conference.

If the powers that be ever use this board as a focus group, the answer to the B12 question is crystal clear, take the offer if it comes. It really shouldn't be a difficult decision, maybe an emotional decision, but not a difficult decision.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that we were one of the original seven members, Nova joined later.

Did you ask the Baseball only fans? They are likely 100%, as well as the Hockey only fans.

Correct in 1979 - St John's, Syracuse, Georgetown, Boston College, UConn, Providence and Seton Hall - Rutgers and Holy Cross turned it down. Nova joined the next year.

Nova had a seat at the table right at the beginning. Contractual obligations to the Eastern 8 prevented their teams from competing in the first year because they were required to give a year’s notice before exiting.

A version of the story is that Nova didn’t turn down the Big East invite, but had already committed to the Eastern Eight for the 79-80 season. Nova won the Eastern Eight in its last committed year then joined the Big East in its second season. Pitt followed Nova from the Eastern Eight a few years later.

Penn State was Eastern Eight, then withdrew for a year, then rejoined, then withdrew as it was trying to create a football conference. Penn State had rivalries that extended to animosity with both Cuse and Pitt. The Big East invite after Nova was between Pitt and Penn State, and the conference chose Pitt.

USC and UCLA are in the Pacific time zone

But they’re not in the B1G until 2024. And at that point, they’ll add a 3rd time zone. The B1G will not be in 4 time zones.

The claim (sarcastically) was that “the Big Ten is in 4 time zones and it’s absolutely killing them financially.” Being in 4 time zones had nothing to do with their financial success. Was not a factor one way or the other. They achieved it while in 2 time zones.

This will be my last post to you before you go back on ignore where you belong, because you've made it clear for the last year plus you're just a troll and not a UConn fan.

Seeing as we're in a thread talking about Big 12 expansion and UConn, I can't imagine why I'd bring up USC and UCLA being in the Pacific time zone as part of B1G expansion. Sorry for that massive reach, I now understand the error of my ways

You sure about that? WV has always been considered part of the northeast.

Which makes sense.

If Western Maryland and Western PA are a part of it, WV is a part of it.

Traditionally (no real political division):

New England: 6 states east and north of NY.

Northeast: New England + NY, NJ, PA

Mid Atlantic: NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, WVA, VA

New England states are also part of the Northeast.

NY, NJ, and PA are part of both the Northeast and the Mid Atlantic.

WVA, MD, DE, and VA are part of both the Southeast (South of the Mason Dixon line) and the Mid Atlantic.

Can you give me a link for that? I can give you many links for what I wrote.

You're breaking things down into sub-regions. Connecticut isn't Midatlantic. West Virginia is. West Virginia isn't New England, Connecticut is. Neither are in the southeast.

Both are in the northeast.
