The difference between Hartford and Pittsburgh is that the latter lies west of the Hudson River -- terra incognita. Everyone in Connecticut knows that the river marks the edge of the known world, and that beyond its waters, there's no there there. It's flyover country, featureless, non-existent, a void populated by cows and fanciful serpents, a place to be avoided. Connecticut, after all, is the center of the universe.
Finally someone who gets it

This is how those who live in parts of Connecticut that are in the NYC demographic view things. The remainder of the state believes civilization ends at the NY border.

But then again, those of us who do live in the NYC demographic also know that civilization also ends when you cross the border into Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

Had always defined eastern football as those schools that were eligible for the Lambert Trophy (Miami was too given their schedule) and Lambert Cup. Basketball by ECAC membership.

The next competition between UConn and a Big 12 member. Texas Tech to face UConn in first round of baseball's NCAA tournament. If we win, may lead to some respect from the Texas Tech fans who have been somewhat negative about UConn online due to our football record.

The Celtics team reminds me so much of 22-23 UConn. Simply unstoppable at times, with blistering offense and down defense. Then they stop defending or forget how to shoot and miss wide open looks.

Meanwhile, will somebody on the Celtics please treat Caleb Martin like the most dangerous scorer for Miami? He clearly is.

He's good. On the other hand, it's easy to be dangerous when you can travel at will without a call. This is pathetic

UConn better have a back up plan just in case lot of Pac12 schools want to join B12
The backup plan is to sit tight: stay in the Big East and reevaluate as circumstances evolve in the Big12 and ACC. The revenue gap widens in the interim, but the state of Connecticut will apparently cover it.

They don't cover it now. Are you saying they'll cover it in the future?

Backup plan is to just sit tight and “monitor” the situation and maybe beg the acc even though they rejected us gazillion times already. sigh

Internal subsidies from a state institution imply higher student fees/tuition, and/or monies from the state. But state funding has a ceiling, and CT may not be able to participate in a college sports arms race without P5 revenues.

Read an article today suggesting a potential uneven split of revenue for UConn should they join. That's an ugly road to head down.

AAC 2.0
Exactly like the AAC, I mean, if the AAC had the two prior men's basketball national champions in it, and were emphasizing being a basketball power in addition to being football P5 conference and were, you know, going to pay us $51 million a year…

Come to think of it it really isn't like the American at all is it?

It’s a life raft.
