Davis and Gonzalez look weak. Although that was great defending right there by Gonzalez.

Interesting, Davis is in the starting line-up over Bedoya. Not sure why. What’s the bet that Green subs for him at some point? Cameroon being benched is no surprise, though I though Brooks deserved the starting nod over Gonzalez.

On the other pitch, Ghana looks to be burning itself down. Boateng and Muntari (who was already suspended for the Portugal game for Yellow cards) are both off the team after fighting with management. Plus, they seem to have money issue. While this does help the US, I actually feel bad as I like Ghana and would have rooted for them if they were not in the same Group as the US plus they got screwed by Uruguay in the 2010 cup after screwing the US in the 2006 Cup.

Why use Green in this game of all games? Loew is his manager and knows his game. I think Davis may have better ball control skills than Bedoya.

Because if he doesn't play in this world cup, he can change national teams. We want to lock him in permanently.

Portugal 1-0! Just what we needed.

.-.
Podalski is dangerous on the international stage.

I wish Jermaine Jones was 4 years younger. I love him.

Great ball by Bradley right there. Better touch from Jones and it's 1-0.

Gotta say though, it's only a matter of time until the U.S. concedes one.

We've tightened up a bit. Hopefully we can hold until the germans wear down a bit. We have better fitness (than .

Beasely looking good. Good for him.

Are there really this many USA fans there or does everyone just afraid of Germany and want them to lose?

Yeah, surprised. I know US has on of the largest contingent of foreign fans at this world cup based on ticket sales.

Jones is a beast. Continues to be our best player. Ozil and Schweinsteiger scare the crap out of me.

Someone has to mark Podalski. He's been sneaking up behind all game.

Article this week said we had the most fans, and it wasn't close. I think it was 2-3 times any other country.

Beckerman has been phenomenal so far. Love the D and how smart he's been on the ball.

Bradley playing well overall, but he's showing a worrying tightness around the area.

.-.
Very successful half for the US. Based on result. JK with a great in game adjustment Zusi <> Davis switch.

Interesting. Didn't know that. That is way more than I would have though, but combined with the unwashed masses crowding public squares around the US, you have to love the tangible growing support of the game in this country. You can almost feel the groundswell. In two world cups, we've a chance to be a top side.

Can't trust that Portugal-Ghana score. Portugal knows they need to push forward for more, so Ghana could easily get two quick counters - even late - and turn things on its ear quickly.

Maybe non-SA teams. Argentina and Colombia have packed stadiums, as you'd expect.

Zusi with a great chance there about 1/3 of the way in.

Especially since it was an own goal.

Good points by Twellman at the half. Get Jones out 70 minutes through if the results hold.

Would love to see Yedlin streaking down the wing with this slow footed German defense.

If the US holds through 70-75 minutes, the game starts to favor them.

Here is the data. It is pretty overwhelming.

Agreed. Jones has been huge, but with that Yellow...well we need him next match. Plus he is expending a lot of energy going end to end.

Oh no.....the great Miroslav Klose. My favorite player in the World Cup. But also my greatest fear.
