You shouldn't be surprised. Kareem might be a ly SOB but one thing he's never been is stupid. It's a fair point: we freak out a hell of a lot more about someone saying racist things than we do over some fairly obvious instances of racism in practice that we ignore every day.

Agree…….

So Nelson is the victim?

You don't know what Doc knew when. And he wouldn't be the first guy to keep working for a boss he learned was a j

Nelson? You mean Sterling or am I missing something here david? not busting balls just waking up………..

Anyway no Sterling is the , my point is he already knew that and accepted the position when he was still more than welcome in Boston where the team was not going to be too good for a while…….so Doc left real quick to take on an already built, star studded winner and knowingly playing for a rumored racist………please don't tell me he learned after? He should be quiet as hell on this is my point……….but since he's not he's a hypocrite, to me a huge one!

Oh, and this "it was all a setup engineered by Magic!" is pure nonsense. It turns out Sterling was fully aware that he was being recorded the entire time.

For the life of me I can't understand why so many people in this thread are desperate to defend this guy or make him out to be the ultimate victim in all of this.

Great point. I forgot that everyone in the world is either good or evil, and there is nothing in between. Thank you for reminding me. Now you can go back to watching Lord of the Rings.

Warriors Had the Blueprint For a Dramatic Boycott Ready to Go

It looks like Adam Silver's hand may have been forced a little bit. If Sterling was not banned for life and given the maximum fine, all of today's playoff teams were prepared to walk off the court at the opening tip.

That would have been an amazing thing to see.

There is no defending this guy for his beliefs, thoughts or anything and I don't see too many doing that. I didn't even know his history as I could care less but now I do know because this has been blown so out of proportion by so many. A racist said more racist things, wow what a story. Ban him, fine him and get on with everything.

The boycotts and protests are lame!

My thought is give me a guy who has a substance abuse problem over a guy who's a racist a hole when clean and sober any day of the week. The two aren't comparable.

If Sterling were the CEO of any major corporation, he would have been fired for this, and the NBA should fire him too.

I'm guessing most of those quibbling with the NBA action in this thread also complain about racial hypersensitivity as evidenced by affirmative action, etc. I want racial hypersensitivity to go away too. But you need to realize that it won't - and shouldn't - go away until people like you can recognize and condemn blatant racism and acknowledge that there should be consequences for it.

Yes, because you know exactly how I think. I find it funny that now people are jumping to Irsay's defense (a woman is actually dead in that case) because I pointed out that this Sterling situation does set a precedent.

We have rule of law for a reason. It has been easy throughout history for people in control of the message to use the mob to destroy those who are not in control. Why is everyone who asks questions about what happened here automatically a racist? If Sterling is so evil, why stop with forcing the sale to someone that knew the woman? Why not just seize the team? Why not publicly stone him? Why not peel his skin off? Is there a law governing this?

This is the exact argument I'm making and I'm getting tarred and feathered on the BY.

It's not like normal non-NBA fans knew about the lawsuits and had deemed Sterling's actions good and appropriate. The people asking why we weren't all upset about the lawsuits seem to be implying that we knew about them.

Right. So the media tells you to dance, and you all dance like puppets.

Housing discrimination, no problem.

Sticks and stones, OH THE OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!
