Can anyone BUT Netflix make the documentary? Their stuff is all cookie-cutter, boring, repetitive BS. It's practically unwatchable. Give it to the guy who made The Jinx or something.

I do not know the standard for a motion for a directed verdict in a criminal case, but it certainly feels warranted. I haven't seen a shred of credible evidence yet.
I’m clearly not a lawyer but I didn’t even know that was a thing - until this case lol

There’s a motion for everything, including one’s ocean.

It started really slow, but the “Night Stalker” documentary on Netflix was cool - this psycho breaking and entering serial killer in CA.

I’m all in on this Read podcast, I have only been briefly paying attention so I’m gonna go in fresh. These whodunits are so interesting.

Netflix is great at the true crime docuseries. They all but invented it.

Night Stalker doc was awesome. Netflix used to come out with great true crime and some great original series but once you watched all those shows years ago there's nothing left to watch. They stopped coming up with good content.

Richard Ramirez is arguably the most nightmare inducing human of all-time.

He was so creepy. And it always comes back to a screwy childhood, it seems.

Sad thing is, the cat was kinda handsome. What an absolutely despicable monster, though.

I thought that “American Nightmare” was a pretty solid crime doc on Netflix - so they are capable..

At this point I feel like the jury will deliberate for about 10 mins before coming back with an easy not guilty.. What a bad bad bad look for the police here, brutal.

There’s heaps of reasonable doubt in this case. All the evidence points to the dude dying as a result of something happening inside the house. No way someone backing up in the space she had would gain enough momentum to kill a guy.

what disagreement would have prompted those in the house to attack O'Keefe?

It doesn't have to be everyone, it only has to be one guy and everyone else just needs to rally around him for the cover-up.

I haven't been following this case at all, but reading the details in this thread has been fascinating.

Many options

1. ATF agent Higgins was flirting with KR in person and by text and was in the house.

2. Colin Albert and buddies had trashed Okeefes front yard months back with a bunch of empty beer cans. Obviously pissing off O’Keefe. Colin was also at the house but many have tried to say he left before O'Keefe arrived which is most likely BS. The lead investigator wrote in his interview notes that Colin was in the house but when he filed his official report he excluded Colin from the names of people in the house. They presented images of his notes a few days ago while Lead investigator was testifying and Colin's name is right there in black and white...but nowhere to be found on the official report. Sketchy

3. Colin’s parents had also posted a picture on social media of them on Okeefes front lawn after that incident Basically tweaking O’Keefe. They were also in the house

So basically no love lost between O’Keefe and at least three people in that house. Everyone was drunk. It was late.

And the sheer ineptitude of the investigation afterward

The last point is key really. A guy dies in the snow on somebody's front lawn. So naturally, let's not treat the whole home as a crime scene, look for blood or other evidence, hell, we shouldn't even knock on the door and see who's there. Oh and the owner of the house is a cop as is the dead guy. Instead we'll only investigate the guy's girlfriend, because she's the only person remotely involved not connected to law enforcement.

I think you have reasonable doubt from that failure alone. It's just too unusual to be overlooked.

If you like The Jinx you should check out that director’s first doc which is where he made his name. Capturing The Friedman’s. Extremely screwed up story.

Oh I think we passed reasonable doubt 2-3 weeks ago and have moved into full on cover-up and conspiracy.

FBI is doing a parallel investigation. I think we'll see a bunch of arrests and firings in the coming years for people that were in that house that night.

Don't think we'll ever see the killer of John O'Keefe ever convicted though which is a crying shame

The cover-up is always worse than the crime. It was probably an accident that he died; I doubt that they executed him. It was probably a fight and a fluke that he hit his head in a way that killed him. They could have told the truth and still probably come out of it with not much trouble.

But they are all cops and thought they could outsmart everybody, which I guess you could argue they did, since none of them have been investigated and someone who wasn't even there is fighting for her freedom.

This thread and a few recent articles is basically my knowledge of the topic....Do you really think it's INEPTITUDE? Isn't cover up a better description?

Don't forget the likely other illegal substances to add fuel to the fire. Maybe they hit up the evidence room.
