The cesspool still exists?

Yep - it didn’t shut down because you ran your mouth and got pwned by shizzle.

The ultimate loser whose mouth writes checks he can’t cash.

You both just need to stop sniping each other. NOW! First and last warning.

Ok - now back up the tough talk. Show shortjohn how it is done. He has the first half... not the follow through.

Lmao, "celebrities at Knicks games".

Spike Lee, some chick from Orange is the New Black and Steve Schirripa. Verifiable Hollywood Walk of Fame.

MSG sells out because it's an 18,000 seat arena 8 blocks from Times Square and every company in the city has seats and tourists can go games and not have to take the scary subway into the Bronx or 40 minutes into Queens.

Also the list of NBA stars..any names from the past 30 years? Kemba...and Stephon Marbury?

Here’s his quote

“It’s my hometown, my wife’s alma mater, my favorite team growing up,” he said. “I’ve got a great president and a great [athletic director]. I just love going to work every day. Our guys graduate. You see these kids are great kids to coach. As a coach, there’s just nothing better.”

Personally, felt he would probably stay until I saw this. In today's world that's code for "I'm outta here".

I don't have to Google to know this is the opposite of the truth. It has close to the fewest bball courts per capita.

But Google does give one the opportunity to quantify: New York City, NY: Basketball Courts in New York City, NY - Courts of the World. There are 167 courts in NYC, for 8.5 million people. 51,000 people per court.

In contrast, Storrs CT has 5 courts for 15,344 people. 3,069 people per court.

I work for a living doing this so I think I know better. Throughout the 5 boroughs there a lot more than 167. I go to seminars yearly

Basketball Courts : NYC Parks

And there are multiples at some locations not just 1 court. The Bronx itself has 112 parks with courts and a lot of those don't have 1 court. The parks and rec site doesn't list all the schools who have them in their playground either or the ones indoors. There also athletic clubs like the one that you pass on the BQE built on peirs right before the Brooklyn bridge that has about 10. Not to mention the ones in churches and other building or private courts.

There are literally thousands in NYC

Pitino should try again with the Knicks. He could bond with his players by sharing the same strippers.

I think people make these decisions based on more factors than we're listing here. Certainly money is a big one, but he'll be wealthy in either case. How does he like Philly? Does he have kids? Where are they in school? How does he like Manhattan? Does he want to live there? (I wouldn't for any amount of money). How does his family feel about it? Does he have any indication on what Nova might pay to keep him? Is there some other team or place he'd rather be?

Looking at his background, he's from suburban Philly, and started under Rollie M. He has 3 kids. Might suggest he'd stay where he is.

He has 3 kids. 2 are already college grads and the third at UPenn so they are essentially grown. All the kids are living in greater Philly/Nova.

Some designer in NYC would pay him a fortune to pimp suits too.

Acela to Philly is about 70 minutes. Kids are grown. $7 mill is loud money. Idk......

Here the court I did for Kemba and under armour in the Bronx a few years ago. An artist was hired for the logo and writing

Spoken like someone who has never lived in the city. NYC has always been the hoops mecca despite the Knicks being mismanaged for decades. Huge high school hoops scene, MSG, the Rucker, The GOAT, Joe Hammond, Lou Alcindor, PeeWee Kirkland, Connie Hawkins, Dr. J etc.

The Knicks are still the hottest ticket despite being horrendously run for so many years, when there is a good Knicks team there is a buzz like no other. The Yankees are the most historic team in sports and had an amazing run in the late 90's but that doesn't make it a baseball town. Football is hugely popular throughout the country, NYC is one of the places it's least popular in.

100%. It's about more than the Knicks.

No one gives a rip about the Yankees or Mets when they're bad. Their stadiums are graveyards (even going back to the late 60s with the Yanks) and their TV ratings go in the tank. The Knicks fanbase is always there, despite being one of the five-worst franchises in American sports the last 15 years. If you think The Boneyard and the Hurley thread was nuts, check out the Knicks RealGM board.

TV ratings don't tell the whole story. Baseball is running unopposed all summer while the NBA contends with the NFL, college hoops, college football, hockey and TV's Fall/Winter runs.

How long would I have to stay? My more nuanced view is that I'd live in NYC for a year if I could then retire, live anywhere and never have to work again.

For the rest of your life. Not 365 days a year; obviously there'd be the Montauk and Malibu houses, the Tuscan villa, and that little compound in the south of France. But most of the year you'd have to live in Manhattan.

So?

I'm thinking this is tongue and cheek, or I just wasn't clear. I meant from NYC.

Carmelo is from there. Andre was born there but I think he grew up in CT. I generally agree though that you would think there would be more stars from such a large population.

Jay Wright is one of the few great things remaining in college basketball. He’s exactly where he should be, hoping he stays there for life.

Think Melo left when he was a little kid and same with Drummond.

Just a real anamoly that in the basketball "mecca" there aren't more players .

Yankees run in the late 90's, uh.....how about the Mantle days, Reggie, etc. - goodness you've got to have a better understanding of history.

NYC has historically been much more of a baseball town - christ there's still folks that piss about the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn for LA in '57.

The reason there's a buzz when the knicks are good is that it's a rare occurrence - the city was as, if not more "electric" when the Rangers made their run to the cup in 1994 as when the Knicks were in the finals.

I misunderstood.

That said KP is a stud. Really sucks about the ACL.

I used to be huge Knicks fan growing up with the Ewing, Oakley, Starks teams, but at this point I've just been so apathetic for years, even the injury didn't bother me as much as I would have thought.
