Its a top 3 NBA job when things are good. Years ago max kellerman on his radio show said Knicks, when good, have the highest priced tickets of any sports team in NYC and they are the hardest ticket to get. Higher than the Yankees
Problem is they haven't been good since Ewing missed that layup
Look, I hate the Yankees and I would never defend them in a million years.
However, I'm also a fan of rational argument.
So:
MSG = 20k capacity.
Yankee Stadium = 55k capacity (old stadium was even more).
Plus, NBA has 41 home dates.
MLB has 81.
Look at TV ratings. I bet that when the Yankees are good, they trounce the Knicks in local tv ratings even when the Knicks are good (which is impressive because there are so many more baseball games).
Basically, ticket prices are meaningless when it comes to popularity.
