Brewers lineup is stacked? It's Cain, Yelich, and Braun surrounded by all journeyman .250 hitters. Braun is a shell of himself since he stopped with the juice and is a .250 hitter now, Cain is a really light hitting solid .290-.300 hitter, and Yelich is MVP this year but was a bit of a nobody before this season. So a light hitting .290-.300 guy leading off, the MVP, and everyone else is journeyman .250 hitters.

That's about as far as it gets from being stacked.

Neither of these teams could beat any of the 4 playoff AL teams in a 7 game series. Lots of so so hitters in each line up that make each other’s staffs look better than they are. The Sox are up 3-1 in the World Series right now.

How insane is sox outfield? Betts - u saw what he’s capable of last night , Bradley - prolly best cf in baseball, and Benny with the great catch last night. Don’t remember an outfield quite like this for sox in a long time

I have a different viewpoint now. Mookie is most definitely wrong he was not catching that one, no shot. But the guy interfered no matter over the fence..... good call

LOL--you wanted to generate 18 more pages I guess.

All due credit to Cora. Guy probably should be manager of the year, given the division they play in.

That said, it still doesn't mean he's the best manager in baseball full stop. Needs more of a track record to make any sort of judgement like that.

Yep. Best this year based on overachieving 1st, 2nd and 3rd order wins. Let's see if he continues that performance. (fwiw, I don't totally agree with the algorithms for this, especially as concerns pitching and defense - what OAK did with basically two starters and a cast of dozens in the pen was remarkable. Brewers rotation wasn't much better).

Which, for regular season, makes Dave Roberts the worst manager in MLB. Also means LAD may be ripe for a very positive regression, which appears to be happening in post-season.

I don't particularly care one way or another, it was a close call and it's over, but how are you saying he wasn't going to catch it? It was headed into his glove until his glove pressed up against a fan's hand and closed it and then the ball hit the closed side of the glove.

Jesus Agular had 35 HR's, 108 RBI's and a 890 OPS after a 837 OPS last year, did you forget about him? Yelich is a 800+ OPS hitter year in and year out, a Nobody? Cain is going to finish top 5 MVP they added Schoop and Moustakas and have Shaw who have all been more consistent and than Devers, Nunez or Kinsler and Holt combinations. The Sox lineup is the best in baseball but the Brewers are easily top 5.

Being a Pirates fan, I guarantee I watch more Brewers games than probably any of you. Other than Yelich, it's a pretty easy lineup to pitch around if you have a capable staff. Aguilar still has issues with pitches below mid-thigh (see heatmap). But with increased use of 4-seamers up throughout MLB, that plays right into Jesus' hands. The staff on Pirates still pitches down a lot. And Aguilar is less than mere mortal vs Bucs.

Can't say for certain he would catch it but it looks like he had it lined up perfectly. probably only way he doesn't is if the ball pops out.

After reading the article and watching the videos, I have no doubt Mookie would have caught that ball. From what I see, the guy in the blue T-shirt is the offender. He's somewhat blocked from view by the hands of the guy in orange next to him. It appears that this guy's forearm pushes Mookie's glove closed and out of position. I see it best on the camera angle from the center field side of the play.

Getting off the catch and onto tonight's game, I don't like the Price decision. Considering Sale was too weak to even throw a bullpen session the other day, I don't know if he can depended on for game 6 or 7. I'd save Price/Sale/Eovaldi for games 6 and 7 and go with Rodriguez tonight.

Honestly tonight is a give-away game. We're facing Verlander and they're desperate. If by some chance we are in it in the 6th or 7th inning than change plan of attack.

But for now I save Price and rest my top 3-4 relievers until I see what develops.

I’m a Sox fan but I don’t agree Mau. The Dodgers for example have all the lefties like Muncy, Joc, Bellinger etc but when they face a lefty they’ll play Dozier, Kike and then have lefty killers like Taylor and Justin Turner. I think either NL team is capable of going 7 games and possibly winning it. That said, if will be a sign of relief to be done with the Astros lineup.

Agreed. From an offensive standpoint, no-one beats the outfield Rice/Lynn/Evans. Lynn & Evans were phenomenal in the field and Rice learned to play the Monster extremely well, but those three collectively can't match the Killer Bs.

EDIT: After typing this, I found this article.

Are Boston's Killer B's better than legendary Rice/Lynn/Evans outfield?

The one at 2:40 is all but identical to last night. He had that. I am sure he would have caught it.
I think the fence was actually higher in the video. The guy is 5’9”. I’d like to see if he can dunk. He’s also bowled a 300 game. .300 300 30 30 club of one!

It’s always risky to throw a game away and they’re so taxed you’d probably see price anyway if eddy started. I’d probably have started eddy to give yourself a chance at some length, but frankly you were gonna see both either way.

People really underestimate how good athletes baseball players are.

Joe Mauer probsbly has multiple Super Bowls by now if he goes to Florida state.

Carl Crawford is in Dave Winfield/Scott Burrell territory as a multi sport athlete.

Look at how many guys couldnt hack it in baseball and go back to football.

Even David wells could dunk.

I think Benny’s outfield assist numbers are helped by having the short field in left. He’s a great fielder with great speed but he catches guys trying to go to second on balls off the monster. His throws home are pretty suspect. JBJ and Betts are lower because people don’t dare run on them.

Being able to hit MLB pitching requires a genetic defect I think. These guys are barely human.

I think the guy has as many RBI in the last 3 games as he has all season. Remarkable. Nothing compares to October baseball IMO.
JBJ and Barnes are the two of the nicest athletes around. I got to see JBJ interact with fans many times, he’s always so gracious towards fans. Barnes also was super down to earth when I met him, and is really cool towards UConn fans. I’m very happy for those two kids in particular but this is a team full of good people who are easy to root for.

Price has the best chance to pull a gem out of his butt. So you start him. He has the talent. If he fails, you plug in E-Rod who can probably go 5 innings from a physical perspective. It gives you a shot, which is all you can ask for against Verlander. Moreland is back, which will help.
