Who are we kidding...it's good $$ to put down that FBI digs up dirt in Jurich defrauding taxpayers in the Yum Center deal...and he gets charges.Jurich and Pitino are as fired as two people can get without security escorting them out the door. Jurich is also finished as an AD. He is just saving his reputation and covering his butt legally at this point, and is probably pretty pissed off that Pitino did this, and then leaked to the press that Jurich and Pitino were BFF's and in this together.
Pitino is likely going down a road of threatening to bring the whole U of L athletic program down if he doesn't get his $44 million. I have three thoughts on this. First, THIS IS AWESOME and I can't wait for more stuff to come out. Second, everyone in the U of L community is going to put some serious distance between themselves and Pitino. Third, Jurich may have some potential criminal liability which he needs to get away from, and running as fast as he can from Pitino is a necessary step in that direction.
Makes you wonder how much research the admin did before hiring Padgett.
I totally agree about the Padgett hire. Should definitely have brought in someone with no ties to the program...regardless of experience level. This is not the way to convince the authorities that you understand the magnitude of the situation confronting you.I think it's a great hire, but I'm also selfishly looking forward to the giant athletics bonfire.
Immediate firings of the entire staff should have been done to show the NCAA they were serious. Keeping an assistant as the interim is a terrible choice and can only make their institutional control look poor, especially if/when Padgett's name comes out too.
Same for Kentucky. I am amazed at how stubborn people are being just because the went on record earlier that the squid doesn't need to pay kids. Yes, he does. This 1000%. It is fairly obvious when Duke made a "philosophical" change in how they approach recruiting.
I will say it again, I don't think there is a single 5 star recruit that doesn't get compensated. This idea that kids will pass up money to play at Duke is hilarious.
I think Rick has the 10 day notice. Jurich is a University VP who I believe can only be dismissed by the Board of Trustees, with whom he has a rocky relationship. He will be officially dismissed at the next BoT meeting.I totally agree about the Padgett hire. Should definitely have brought in someone with no ties to the program...regardless of experience level. Regarding the AD and HC, I believe there may be contractual reasons for them being "suspended". I would expect once the ten day period expires, that each will be dismissed. If not though...see conclusion above.
Cleary TJ has a high threshold for what he considers "inexcusable" behavior. If what was said earlier is accurate, that he was asked to fire Pitino and refused, with the knowledge of events that he had, then I'm not sure this guy's "threshold" could ever be cleared, unless it involved his own hide being threatened. In other words, he wasn't really carrying out the duties of his job, but then again, we already knew that from his lack of action before.Apparently in Tom's mind hiring whores is allowed within the rules. Interesting.
Thanks for the clarification Scooter. I had read about Pitino having a ten day requirement, but hadn't seen anything different regarding Jurich, other than it was the BoT who he would be at the mercy of. My guess is that they will have an answer at about the same time. There's no sense in creating a second negative announcement for the school, if you already know what you want to do.I think Rick has the 10 day notice. There are very few times I'm rooting for Pitino to win. This is one of them.Jurich and Pitino are as fired as two people can get without security escorting them out the door. Is there anything in the ACC bylaws that can have a school thrown out.I haven't read the details. Exactly how many players do they already have evidence of being paid by UL that we know of?
Not sure Pitino can really threaten anyone. If I am the UL, I admit fault by not properly monitoring Pitino, but claim he went rogue. The UL is going to get what they get regardless of Pitino, but if Pitino is not careful, he can go to jail.Jurich and Pitino are as fired as two people can get without security escorting them out the door. His mental breakdown is going to be uncomfortable as hell when Coach K gets popped.
Well there are the two who were mentioned in the FBI report (the kid above, Balsa K being one and Brian Bowen being the other). Then today, there was speculation about a third possible (former) UofL player, Jaylen Johnson. He's been connected to an agent, Christian Dawkins, who is mentioned in the FBI's report. So that's three...but it's still early.I haven't read the details. Exactly how many players do they already have evidence of being paid by UL that we know of?

Get your popcorn ready. This is going to be quite the show regardless. If Pitino can connect the UL administration to anything he did, then they all go down together. I think that is Pitino's threat.
What did you hear that makes you believe he "almost bit off his tongue" when askedI realize he probably isn't the most connected basketball journalist in the world but Mark Titus almost bit off his tongue when asked to talk about Coach K and his alleged cheating in an interview I heard this morning.
