When I think about moving back to CT, Barkhamsted is ground zero. Such a cool place. A wilderness feel, but just 25-30 minutes to so many places I love. The restaurants in Simsbury and Avon, the shopping in South Windsor, Cedar Knob Golf course in Somers (and Italian Villa pizza), downtown Hartford, the Rent and an easy ride to 91N to the Berkshires, VT and Montreal. I like it.

We lived in South Windsor for 19 years....loved it. Saw Springsteen and the Stones at the Rent...good times. But, much less snow here in Rhody and closer to the beach...

Was at UConn for that blizzard- loaded up on beer, wine, Panama red - best 4 days ever at UConn because no one could leave. Was in the frats with one of the best chefs. What was even better was my new car with front wheel drive - shoveled a little behind, a little in front and off I went when the roads were open again. I was the designated resupply officer.

You were there then? Did you happen to hear about the guy who jumped out of a window and broke both his heels?

We generally took old route 8 if we were heading north. To the mass pike and wherever from there. But driving east to 91 makes sense as well. Especially if you live on the northeast end of town. Northeast of the resevoir.

We have a place in Stowe, VT so 91 to 89 is a must. However, there are so many beautiful places in NW and NE CT. I love the northern border of the state. I like the hills of Litchfield County, hip stops in Avon/Simsbury/WeHa, then heading east through Barkhamsted and over the river to Somers, Union (Bigelow Hollow Star Park), Sturbridge MA and that vicinity. A football or basketball game in Storrs or East Hartford mixed in, maybe a drinking spree downtown and even a casino run. That’s my ideal trip.

When I visit my other stomping grounds in Fairfield County, I fly to Westchester, then it’s Pizza Post in Greenwich, Sally’s in New Haven and Johny Ads in Old Saybrook, as I make my way to the Rhode Island Shore.

Yep, and then, burn that ish
I’m just waiting for the EMS call to remove a guy who’s butt cheeks are stuck to a stainless steel stove…

Hoping to see some flurries down here in Charlotte. Weather app says it'll be 34 degrees with some rain in the morning. Maybe some small flakes get mixed in?

Just dusted off the Ariens. Took 50 pulls but it started!!!! Wow. Mild heart attack. Thought I had a clogged carb. I think I used the beast twice in last 2 years.

Perfect, that should keep the snow away now. Thank you. Bigly.

This sounds like a sequel from a recent thread on what would people rather eat. If you get the drift or, the snow drift.

Brown snow or yellow snow?

Depends on the preference of the animal at the time, or with broken indoor plumbing, the needs and preferences of the occupant.
Did Jonathan spend some time in the snow outside the Carrier Dome?

Lol, the same thing happened in South. Guy jumped out and hit one of those old concrete trash cans. It was completely covered.

Some of the best snowball fights I ever participated in took place in the early 70's between the frat quad and the freshmen in the Jungle! Damn those were serious fun!

My district already told teachers we will be having full day online learning on Thursday. I love not making up snow days (longer summer) but kids need to be away from their computers and have some outdoor snow fun! Wish they would make it a half day...best of both worlds.
I 100/100 times would rather have a day off in the stressful winter months than get out a day earlier of word searches and games in June. Every. Time.

I went to the package store and grocery store tonight. Was stunned that there was no one at the packie....what has become of us??
better for us then, those Back East Double Scoop’s will still be in the back freezer!!

Um, if "us" includes me, our houses have been consistently stocked with enough booze for the end times for at least the past eight months.

Mine took about 15 minutes to get its act together this morning, even with the electric starter! Got it running like a champ though.
