OT Baseball HOF hypocrisy

Imagine a guy who couldn’t even find his glove gets in before th other “cheaters”? Lol hypocrisy is the right headline Scoe. Again since baseball allowed it then eventually with the numbers he put up they couldn’t keep him out but first ballot is an absolute joke.

.-.
It's an absolute joke. They voted in the Dan Hurley steroid user but not the best player and best pitcher steroid users. They all belong in the Hall of Fame as does Curt Schilling.

He’s not yet at all. He can’t get in until they let the others in. He’s not half the player Bonds was before he began his cheating ways.
I also like how Manny was using roids in the Mitchell report after he left the Sox right lol.

Its simple. Big Papi used roids a little and Clemons, Bonds, Manny and others used a lot. So, Papi just made it and the others almost made it. If they each didn't get caught/admit then they would have gotten in too. And Papi was only accused becuase of a blind sampling when it wasn't illegal yet. After that, he passed ever test!!!!!

Good for Papi.

Well deserved. Never tested positive in any test. Even commish said the leaked names had multiple errors in it.

The true hypocrisy is keeping Schilling out.

The run in Arizona with the Big Unit were as good of a 1-2 punch baseball has seen.

11-2 post season record.

Give Binds and Clemens the Pete Rose treatment. Put them in after they're dead so they can't monetize their cheating.

The writers like him and he’s a nice guy.

Ortiz is a different story, despite his own PED suspicions. A 2009 New York Times story reported that Ortiz was among 104 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing substances during a round of tests conducted in 2003. Those results were supposed to remain confidential and were done to see if the league had reached a threshold to conduct regular testing.

Ortiz has long denied that he used banned substances, and in 2016, commissioner Rob Manfred said the tests in question were inconclusive because "it was hard to distinguish between certain substances that were legal, available over the counter, and not banned under our program."

Manfred added that during subsequent testing Ortiz "has never been a positive at any point under our program.

A little? None of them used a little. Their numbers prove it. Some became much better after they used it some were already damn good baseball players prior.

Can't tell if this post is serious. You don't do roids a little.

Schilling is being kept out because he has opinions the voters don't like, his exclusion devalues the Hall of Fame as does keeping the best player of his generation and the best pitcher of his generation out. The Hall of Fame is loaded with steroid users and people with terrible behavior off the field.

"Manfred added that during subsequent testing Ortiz "has never been a positive at any point under our program."

Case closed. Congrats to him. I guess this makes up for him being robbed of the MVP award that went to A-Roid.

Ortiz productive years were steroid era years. He was clutch but even accounting for increased production with steroids, Bonds, Clemons, and Arod should be in. The HOF always has had " levels" and now is a joke. Cooperstown is great though.

LOL at thinking David Ortiz wasn't using steroids. And the technicality crap Rob Smarmfred used to plausibly deny Ortiz got tagged is pretty LOL too.

Ortiz, however, could do his contemporaries (who are currently on the outside looking in) a huge favor by addressing the elephant in the room: that nearly all of them were taking PEDs back then, and frankly, the owners looked the other way because they were busy saving the sport after the '94 strike.

Basically, he'd be thanking the writers with a topspin volley that'd make them either see the light about the guys they choose to exclusively blame for the steroid era, or force them to contort so much they begin having difficulty breathing.

Sheffield should be in as well.
Not in my mind - admittedly I have higher expectations than most on this because I think the HOF has been watered down. He accumulated a lot of stats over 20+ years and had a lot of very good years (9 all stars) but never won an MVP, no gold gloves, not a big base stealer, and underperformed in the post season. He just misses in my book.

It's not the "Hall of Good Dudes."

It's ridiculous that the guy who is arguably - I personally don't think it's arguable - the best player in the history of the sport is not in the Hall of Fame.

There was regular testing in Ortiz’s latter years when he still dominated. Others like Manny, Cano, Braun, etc. tested positive (repeatedly). I’m not a Boston fan, but there’s no conclusive proof he was using. The same could be said for Bagwell and Piazza. It’s only speculation - and it certainly seems like they were using, but you can’t keep him out because of speculation.

He tested positive in 2003. The public just weren't supposed to know about it.
