November General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

I already went thru that entire exercise line 5 posts up... He had Mullins on the bench because I was using our lineup right now. I had stew matched up with Yaxel and the 5* frosh matched up.
Got it. If we ever played them Mullins would not be on the bench.

1. Zona
2. Purdue
3. Michigan
4. UConn
I’d go:

Purdue
Michigan
Zona
Us
BYU
Duke
Ville
Michigan looks bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone in ways we did in 2023 and 2024. That was a crazy game.

Having a 7’3 rim protector is such a cheat code.
ding ding

I got to see it to believe it first
Got it, so you've been irrationally enthralled with every other team's freshmen for months but UConn's we have to wait and see. I know you like to try and maintain this sense of superiority and remain "objective" but the reality is you just really hate this entire UConn roster

As far as 7’3 Rim protectors Mara isn’t on the same planet as Clingan or thabeet and having thabeet didn’t get as a ring either

I’m enthralled because I’ve had the chance to watch them. Mullins could be Fleming, or he could be Burries. Impossible to know yet.

My enthrallment is in line with the overall expert narrative on this class. Not sure what you’re missing.

He’s 7’3”! Long and mobile. This place is hysterical.

I'm not missing anything, this freshman class is amazing. What YOU'RE missing is that Braylon Mullins is considered a top 10 prospect and lottery pick by those same experts and you continue to treat him like an afterthought for this UConn team while obsessing over these other teams' rosters

He has not played!!! What does anyone know? Burries was also a top ten prospect. It’s all prognosticating and hope until we see it.

We saw him play in the preseason, and he looked really good. And Burries has also looked pretty good for Arizona early on. Just because he's not a star like Dybantsa or Peterson doesn't mean he hasn't been good.

But now I'm confused, first I wasn't listening to the experts telling me the freshmen are good. Now I'm not supposed to listen to them when they tell me Mullins is good. Just let me know what opinions I'm supposed to have moving forward to make it easy

So what! Krivas and the Ivisic twins are all 7’2 but Reed is the only all America center among them
You’d probably take our entire starting 5 if Mullins was in there.

Let me ask you this. Do you think we would have beat Gonzaga by 40 fully healthy? They are bigger, stronger and faster all over the floor. We could win by out executing.

The experts were lauding them because of results. All they have is HS tape for Mullins. It’s TBD, with potential.

I’m not using an exhibition against BC where he played pretty good as setting expectation.

How would Mullins or Stewart defend Yaxel?

The experts have been lauding them for months, before they played. Just like they have with Mullins, yet you ignore that.

Probably not very well for Mullins on Yaxel. I also don't think he'd do a good job guarding Mullins on the perimeter. And as it was already laid out to you multiple times by other posters, our advantage is coming from the other 4 spots where we're better than Michigan

Michigan looks like an absolute wagon the last two weeks. 7-0 but do need to remember that they barely squeaked out wins against Wake Forest and TCU earlier in the year

I wasn’t on the Yaxel hype train coming into the year but he’s making me look silly with that take

Overall they’re looking like clearly one of the top teams. I wouldn’t be surprised if they jumped a few spots and got into the top 5 next week with the way they dismantled Auburn and Gonzaga

Who is better between UConn and Michigan…I’ll wait until we’ve had a fully healthy roster for a few weeks before I answer that

This place is so reactionary. Everyone is great when they win right up until they stink a week later
This is the real takeaway. This was RuffRuff 6 days ago, now Michigan is the best team in college basketball in 2 years and is going to destroy everyone in sight. Less than a week ago they were at best the 11th best team in the country and not a title contender

Where was he when Michigan barely squeaked by TCU and Wake Forest?

They are good but if people can’t realize it’s November and a lot will change between now and March than maybe you shouldn’t be watching other teams play if it causes whatever type of orgasmic reaction we are seeing in this thread.

I was the one who said spread them out. But they have a real rim protector and can extend, ala us 2024.

They lauded the top 3 for months. The hype extended beyond that once they played. I’m not saying Mullins won’t be great. He very much might, has upside albeit appearing slight. We just need to see it.

I’m never gonna jump on all portal team. They showed some serious talent and gelling this week.

Why does this place take it so offensive if another team is more talented? My gawd the tribal mentality. It’s ok people. Anything can happen in a one game format and the talent gap isn’t that wide.

They also only beat Wake and TCU by a combined 5 pts. They played great in Vegas but aren’t going to keep beating everyone by 40 and if they do I’ll tip my cap and declare them the best college bball team of all time and get Mora’s jockstrap framed for you.

I didn’t take AK over Morez and I would still take Yaxel over Mullins.

Because of the source. When another team or player has a great stretch you jump on board with the hyperbole and accolades. When UConn did it your response was meh there's a lot of better teams with better talent. And you wonder why a UConn board finds that weird?

They showed their upside. That’s what you need to focus on.

We looked like butt against UNH and Bryant. Thats not who we are.

Some of this is just eye test.

Here’s the thing - Ive been consistent all year saying we are a top 4 team. It’s ok some of these more unproven teams can come together and look better than our perceived upside based on roster and eye test. I was surprised by what I saw, but that was 3 games and consistent.

You’re not exactly flawless in the tribal direction. Have you ever recognized that most of your takes are all point one way? UConn defensive.
