Dave Borges says not to expect UConn in the Players Era Festival.

UConn has been asked to join the tournament numerous times over the past few years by organizer Seth Berger and co-founder Ian Orefice, who has offered to pitch the event in person to Dan Hurley and athletic director David Benedict, so far to no avail.

Why is that? For the vast majority of college basketball programs, the Players Era is a no-brainer. The chance to play three November games against high-caliber opponents can be a great boost to the all-important NET rankings. And, of course, the financial aspect is huge now that revenue-sharing is a part of the college sports landscape. For programs like Creighton or Rutgers or most others, the $1 million guarantee just for showing up trumps the alternatives of home "buy" games or lesser, more expensive multi-team events.

UConn men's basketball has better financial options than Players Era Festival. But that could change
