Non-Key Tweets

He's still posting (I think). More at Greg Flugaur (@flugempire) | Twitter
Post order is from bottom, up.

Greg Flugaur @flugempire
That is what BTM told us this weekend. Now we shall see what happens when B12 Presidents meet.

Greg Flugaur @flugempire
BTM: Next Spring & Summer CFB news will be dominated by how Conferences and NCAA will be dealing with Concussion Lawsuits.

Greg Flugaur @flugempire
BTM: OU contacts believe B12 Reform will happen...numbers will grow by 2 for now...UC/UCONN will finally get their votes by end of Summer.

Greg Flugaur @flugempire
BTM: However, New and ongoing TV Media contracts with "New B12" would fall behind other P5 confs...highly probable.

BTM: Controlled Implosion will assure B12 schools who do not have a seat with other P5 conferences a seat at P5 table with restructured B12.

BTM: No one believes OU & Texas will willfully wreck their relationship by keeping status quo in place for another 8 years.

.....BTM: Then UCF candidacy to further B12 Expansion becomes chalk

BTM: If Texas pulls back from Reform (EXP/CCG) then next step will be Texas & OU working with TV partners on controlled B12 implosion.

BTM: UCF candidacy to B12 upcoming years will be dependent on relationship of FSU/Miami with ESPN. If ESPN makes FSU "whole" with ACCN.....

BTM: BU damage...it has only made the candidacies of UCONN/UC even more chalk.

BTM: OU Contacts - BU, more than ever, will be pro expansion in light of what has happened. They have no other potential landing in 8 years

BTM: OU Contacts scoff at notion Baylor would receive death penalty, nor would they ever be dismissed from B12.

BTM: We don't have info on changes...it's not money or length of contract, but it has to do with flexibility. We don't know what that means.

BTM: FOX is willing partner...FOX does want something in return. FOX wants some changes to their portion of B12 Tier 1 contract.

BTM: FOX won't stop the creation of B12N...It's up to ESPN to negotiate with FOX on many B12 3rd Tier Contracts.

BTM:7 of 10 B12 schools recieve so few $ on TV part of their 3rd Tier Contracts...FOX will retain licensing part of many of those contracts

BTM: No one expects B12 will grow by 4 in this expansion at this time. Possible growth to 14 in 3-4 years if B12N successful at 12..

Greg Flugaur @flugempire
BTM: Colorado State is BYU's shadow. CSU candidacy is only breathing if B12 goes to 14 in future and if BYU can't make it work with B12.

BTM: Memphis is not being discussed as candidate. Houston has no traction.

BTM: Most internal traction among B12 Presidents (not majority yet..but most traction among combo's) UCONN/Cincy. This has not changed.

BTM: Data will be presented this week...data will not surprise many B12 Presidents. Cincy-UCONN-BYU-UCF data will be good to decent.

BTM: ESPN/Texas final decision makers..OU contacts say momentum is with EXP & CCG with 8 B12 schools.

BTM: Expansion with CCG still most likely. B12N won't be built overnight. FOX will play ball on giving up 3rd tier TV rights w B12 schls

BTM:4 options for Big 12 coming 8 years. Most likely to least. 1) Reform 2) Controlled Implosion 3) Non Controlled implosion 4) Status Quo

Greg Flugaur @flugempire
All following tweets are from BTM - Long conversation over the weekend.

If the above scenario has the most traction we should soon find out if it's true that nobody wants you until everybody wants you in CR. This potential expansion is the most public audition we've seen giving other conferences the opportunity to react.

Who wants some Big 12 tidbits prior to the meetings?

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
The Baylor scandal has caused a major shift in the Big 12's thinking on expansion. Expansion is now possible without a network.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
That's a big shift in the Big 12's thinking.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
But if the Big 12 expands without a network the criteria flips. Strength of program becomes most important metric instead of market.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
Also if the Big 12 does expand its 14. Two now and two later. P5 schools are targeted for the second round.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
Big 12 has 2 ACC schools & 2 PAC 12 schools on the wish list for round 2.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
Chances of Big 12 expansion now at 60-40 against.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
@TAFKASirThinks Expansion - if it happens now - does so because the conf is worried about Baylor. They need 10 to keep TV contact.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 1h1 hour ago
@BaylorFight Concern over more BU violations & the conference TV contract that says unless B12 has 10 members the TV deal is void.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 1h1 hour ago
@BaylorFight About expansion. Don't get mad at me. I'm just passing on the current vibe.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 1h1 hour ago
@BaylorFight The B12 is worried about NCAA violations and sanctions on BU. Expansion provides a buffer should any penalties be serious.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 1h1 hour ago
@BaylorFight I'll be blunt. The B12 is worried BU will get hit so hard by the Feds & NCAA that the effect will be a defacto death penalty.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 1h1 hour ago
@BaylorFight Expansion ensures the Big 12 has enough members to survive severe sanctions on Baylor.

I also have a wish list.

Maggie Siff
Brie Larson
Jennifer Lawrence
Alison Brie

My chances are only marginally worse than whatever the Dood is talking about. His premise in that last string might be his Mona Lisa of stupid tweets.

So to recap...

The Big 12 is currently 60-40 against expansion.
But they are worried that the NCAA will somehow eliminate Baylor, and they need 10 teams to keep their TV contract.
In order to insulate themselves from the 'Doom of Baylor', they will expand in 2 rounds and add 2 ACC schools and 2 Pac-12 schools. Not sure how this works since the ACC has a GOR in place.

Also, wouldn't they need an odd number of schools to offset a Baylor loss? The dude's plan leaves the Big 12 at 13 schools!?

I think you misread it. He said two P5 schools in the second round from the ACC or Pac-12.
The first round of expansion would be 2 schools from the G5. That's the way I read it.

Not exactly a reach to predict he would be at the lake for Memorial Day activities. no reason to pat yourself on the back for that ;)

the joint network of course. Converting ESPNU to a joint ACC/Big 12 network.

Not quite, what he is saying is that they will go to 12 so if Baylor leaves (or the NCAA drops the death penalty) they won't drop below 10 (the point at which their media deal become voided).

That being said, it's still a stupid premise.

Yes. That's what he said. Reading the info from Flug there is an interesting theory. For the schools with few options, they realize they need expansion to ensure the league survives if OU/UT or others leave. That does make some sense.

Always nice to see Memphis/Houston fans saying "if UConn is so great why did they get passed up for Rutgers and Louisville? Should we run through the list of fine institutions invited to the Big East/AAC before them?

There are only two non-key tweeters that I pay any attention to, flug and bluevod.

And yes I'm aware they are non-key but they are Manhattan Project level of genius compared to these West Virginia dunces.

I could be wrong about Flug but I actually believe he has a somewhat legitimate source involved at Minnesota.

I actually wouldn't be shocked if M H V R talks to someone in the WVU athletic department.

Bluevod is just having fun on the internet. It's all just made up.

There is something wrong with the Dude. He has internalized the jokes about West Virginia. He actually believes he can impact things through Twitter. He is somehow personally hurt that the ACC didn't want WVU.

I agree,on,dude. He posted some stuff after the Baylor news, personal stuff that I just can't believe people would post for thousands of total strangers to know. If it's not true, we'll lord have pithy on him.

There are three options:

A: It's true and that's terrible
B: It's not true and it's just another piece of evidence that he just needs attention.
C: It's not true and he is working on a doctorate... and he could write a great thesis.

Like Mike would ask Dog... gun to your head? I'd pick A on the story and B for the rest.

Bluevod had the news that satellite camps were going to be re-instated 24 hours before any of the national writers had it. He's got someone in the know.
Before that he had something about Harbaugh, I forget - maybe dayooper remembers.
I wouldn't be shocked if he threw up crap too but he does find some nuggets from somebody.

Yes he has taken that one tidbit and convinced people everything else he says is true.

I guess we'll know when FSU ends up in the Big 10!

Write Bluevod off at your own risk. Occasionally he comes up with stuff, and does seem to be having fun in the process.

His rise to Internet sensation was due to Harbaugh. Beyond that, he's nailed a couple recruits, missed others. Hard to say how much of it was from information already available, and with the misses -- kids are allowed to change their mind.

All three of Flug (Minnesota) Bluevod (Michigan) and MH ver (WVU) know someone with some kind of access. What we need to take into account is that those people aren't the AD, or anyone similar. Those people are themselves probably only getting pieces of data and making guesses based on that. So what we get are third hand guesses, based on some arguably factual information. It isn't always going to be right.

When I get slightly interested is when they converge. When they all seem to be getting the same data, the odds that it is accurate are higher. For example, there is a solid consensus that UConn came out looking very good in the analyst reports, along with BYU, and that Cinci disappointed slightly. Since that also aligns to common sense, I'm treating it as true.
