Agree, no disrespect to Boise St football; but Boise is the 110th largest TV market with roughly 260,000 households. UConn owns Hartford/New Haven, which is 30th, with about 997,000 households (not to mention many very affluent households) and that does not count the presence that UConn has in the NYC market (best guess, Farifield County is 10% of NYC's 7.384 million households or 738,000 households).

Cincinnati is 34th at 898,000, Memphis is 49th with 662,000, Houston is 10th with 2.215 million; but, the XII is already there, Tampa is 14th with 1.806 million, and Orlando is 18th with 1.453 million; but, U Florida & Florida St are likely larger in both markets than USF and UCF respectively.

In summary, the fate of the XII rests in Texas's hands as it always have. The decsin for them is if they will get more money and power now with the current LHN and XII structure and then jump to another league (PAC/SEC/B1G/ACC) in 10 or less years or do they get more of both my giving-up the LHN for the greater good of the XII for the long-term.

The options are:
  1. No change: XII likely falls apart before the GOR expires due to the amount of money (and frustration) offered to Oklahoma by the B1G or SEC with several other members (Kansas, OK St?) following them out the door. ACC survives.
  2. Add 2, keep LHN: XII reluctantly adds some combination of Cincinnati/Memphis/Houston, LHN remains intact as such additional are not enough to create a viable network; but, this likely keeps the XII intact until the GOR expires. ACC surives as long as it can get a network in place before the GOR expires.
  3. Add 2, LHN becomes XII Network: XII adds some combination of BYU/Cincinati/UConn which allows the LHN to change to a the XII network and then adds 2 to 8 additional schools when the ACC falls apart.

Obviously, the ACC would never make a mistake in expansion selection. I mean if UConn was a P5 school they would be in the P5.

There is a reason the ACC is not getting a network and it is in large part due to the failure to retain and expand wisely. Passing on UConn is part of that failure. Why other fans can't figure this out I have no idea.

Personally, I look forward to the upcoming steel cage death match between the ACC schools for the limited spots in the SEC/BIG. If the ACC does not get a network then it is not "if" but instead "how long until" ACC teams bail for the network conferences.

What's so dumb is this notion that 9 football games make a network. How in God's earth would Boise fill anytime slots on a network. Those stuck with football drives the bus totally missed what the B1G did. Maryland/Rutroh wasn't about football.

BYU works for NBC a national network. Fans spread across the country but for a regional network in another time zone with the B12 only having WV in the most populated time zone gets trumped by Uconn. My opinion Uconn football becomes relative fairly quickly in the B12. And KU/Uconn basketball becomes primetime rivalry game played before Duke/Unc.

No.....FSU just signed the #2 class with kids from NY, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Washington DC....in addition to Florida. The school is an eastern program...Texas is west.

FSU to the Big 12 is a feverish fantasy, akin to a post about sheep,a blindfold, and handcuffs.

Being from Kansas, we always considered it the midwest. But that was eastern KS, near KC. Western KS is really almost "southwest". It's no different than anywhere. Storrs is certainly "New England", while Fairfield is more "NY". These state lines are pretty arbitrary.

I think you are right. I think FSU and Clemson will stay put. The ACC has a strong presence in some of the fastest growing states in the country. It isn't dead or doomed. It would be stronger without Louisville and Pitt and with UConn and Rutgers, from a market perspective, but these scenarios suggesting it is doomed are overblown.

The one thing about Flug is that he does have a business connection to powerful people connected to UConn. That's a fact. His pro-UConn stance may be for helping to publicize UConn to the B12 in order to help us gain momentum in regard public opinion and acceptance among B12 people.

I have no idea what he knows about the B1G and from where he may hear it. However, people that know players in one state usually know players in another.
