That arrangement would never happen. Kansas would go B1G rather than Pac and Pac would be just as happy with ISU+KSU as with doubling down in Kansas. B1G would much prefer Kansas to doubling down in Iowa. So big gains to switching Kansas and ISU.

If there is critical thought involved, then the B1G should prefer UConn to Kansas or ISU or nearly anyone else.

The traditional ACC stuffed shirts view WVU with such disdain that they'll never be considered.

All true, but sadly, I think WVU has more in common with the traditional ACC -- or even the expanded ACC through 2011 -- than Louisville did (and fits in a tighter travel footprint, too).

If the B1G could pick anyone they want, UConn would be between 4th and 6th on the list with Texas, UNC & UVA clearly ahead and grouped with Oklahoma and G Tech. Georgia Tech brings some football history, AAU status, major research money, and access to Georgia' population (#8 - 10 million); but, they are a distant #2 in GA behind the Bulldogs. I believe that Kansas would actually be behind UConn with equal weight in basketball, but located in a smaller (#34 - 2.9 million) in a low growth state and less sports to offer (no hockey, no soccer, football about the same, not likely to add lax).

Very good post but Uconn's position should be higher IMO due to eastern demo and wealth....I could see an OKIE/UCONN or VT/Uconn add to achieve B1g type longterm goals ...of course Texas is desirable to many but would want too many concessions and NC academic problems make them toxic now making UConn more appealing. 1 east and 1 south or west for now in my opinion.

No argument from me. I was looking at this from a clean slate, i.e. no politics (yeah right), no GOR, etc. Basically evaluating a Christmas list for the B1G assuming certain constraints, like geography (the B1G is not going to poach UCLA from the PAC) and schools in the SEC would not likely leave that home for the B1G (my own belief that Missouri may and the wider internet rumor that Vanderbilt would aside).

Not a bad point as WVU's academic profile is clearly ahead of Louisville's. The thing is the ACC schools in question (UVA, UNC, Duke, Wake) have had this view of WVU for a century. Louisville only hit their radar recently.

Precisely. Nobody in the ACC had given much thought to Louisville at all until recently. UVA in particulary has been looking down on WVU forever.

Weird, Freudian choice of words. As written, it implies that each team has a conference realignment. Probably should have read "conference affiliation" or "a realignment of their conference."

We're probably reading too much into this. I'd bet that our contracts with Missouri, Virginia, Syracuse, Illinois and Indiana include the same or similar provisions.
