New school commitments by Transfers

“Where did Reese say she wanted to only shoot 3’s? Her quotes are about developing a midrange shot something that most BY’s agree she needs to do.”

Reese wants to be a “big guard.” She wants to shoot 3s — I didn’t say how many — and play on the perimeter.

Reese is a hard worker and I have no doubt she’ll spend this summer working on her shot. But it is a flat shot and it takes a while to load up. If defenders are giving her 16-footers and she’s making 35% of them when she could be around 60% at the rim, that helps no one.

Plus her greatest asset is her offensive rebounding ability. The more she strays from the paint, the less effective that becomes.
Correct me if I’m wrong but You did not mention anything in your orig post except shooting 3’s as what she wants to do. Maybe at MD she felt they did not help her with “flat shot & load time”. Hell it’s not what your call yourself it’s what you can do. Reese has clearly shown she can guard 1-5 & by all accounts wants to develop a midrange. Let’s just see what happens. Go Terps regardless

She’s a great teammate and she’ll do what she has to to help LSU win. But she left MD because she didn’t like playing in the post. She took 3s when she was open even though Frese didn’t want her to. I think her and her mom wanted a more South Carolina-like offense for her with two bigs.

I know Angel’s a big A’ja Wilson fan. If Angel masters those midrange shots that AW hits, great. But she wants to play more like she did in HS/AAU, when she was initiating on the perimeter. That’s a lot tougher in college when you can’t muscle past SEC defenders or make them pay with jumpers.

Maybe I’m just too hung up on “modern offense” but I know Angel’s a big Aja Wilson fan. If Angel masters those midrange shots, great. Well she certainly won't be running the offense most the time (she will obviously has plays where she can initiate) but thats ain't gonna happen under Kim. Heck it wouldn't happen at SC either if she transferred there. You got to play to your strength's and capabilities, not play like its a video game.

But mid range game would be a nice to build on for her. If there is anything Kim generally likes to have, she likes mid range jump shooters so maybe that is something they can build on.

I would like to think Reese knew what she was getting into. Knowing Kim, I can guarantee she didn't promise her she could do all these things. Its about the team first and what it needs for them as a whole to be successful.

Nalyssa's mom went off on Kim after she took the LSU job on her social media, saying Kim ruined the players futures by leaving, she eventually took the post down. I saw multiple Baylor players (Smith, Egbo, Bickle) liked that post then unfollowed her after after she took the LSU job.

But I get it, I imagine a lot of players wouldnt be happy that you go to a school due to a staff that invested in you only to leave. Quite frankly no one, even Kim probably knew she would end up at LSU. It all transpired pretty quickly.
Kim left because of the AD, so that's the person the players need to blame.

It will be very interesting to see how it works out.

I would say the two biggest names remaining on the board are Saniya Rivers and Sonya Morris.
I assumed Rivers was going to one of the Carolina schools. She definitely is talented but the numbers her first year are pretty rough but its a small sample size.

I heard Sonya Morris visited FSU, no idea where she ends up though

Yeah, from the jump, I think it’s been a pretty fair guess that Rivers would choose NC State or UNC.

Wow, you don't see a lot of movement of players between schools who are bitter rivals. Gotta say she'll win more games in Tucson than she would've in Tempe.

Looks like Adia realized she needs more SCORING. I don't know much of anything about Fields from Oklahoma St., but she was a double digit scorer. Loville averaged 16+ her last 2 seasons at Boise St. and Arizona St. Already proven she can score in the Pac 12. Maybe one or both of the Fr. guards can help as well. Is Pellington returning?

Pellington - yes. Also Reese, Ware, Pueyo and Madison Conner. Those were our 5 best players last year. The rest of the team will be via portal and recruits.

I expected big things from Pueyo based on her Fr. year. Just never really made a jump. Still she does some of the little things and she can hit some 3s. Conner is a dangerous shooter as well. I suspect most of the players that transferred out won't be missed at all.

I was very impressed with Bendu Yeaney's defense. She smothered Haley Jones in their one matchup. But yeah, a scorer she was not.

What you got against Sam Thomas?
5 best players able to return, to be specific. Sam as you know has moved on to the WNBA. She was by far a favorite throughout her career.

Of the 5 returnees, I actually like them all, but can get frustrated with both Pellington and Reese, for different reasons.

Pueyo is solid, I too was disappointed she didn't make a jump, but if you really want to get in there and analyze Adia's coaching, that was probably the reason. I really think Adia overthought what she was doing this season, under the pressure of the previous season.

Conner is impressive as a shooter. Just needs minutes. Also a hustle player.

I agree 100% about the players that transferred out - some were very talented, and showed it in a game or 2, but if the new team is managed right, yes, I don't think most will be missed.

Interesting approach to the portal by Adia, especially after some of her comments on last season and the portal in general. I definitely like their talent. It will be interesting to see her coach offense. She definitely has more options than last year, although I still think they may struggle with outside shooting.

The mystery to me with the Adia Barnes Transfer Portal Extravaganza (subtitle, "Everyone Everywhere All At Once") is that many of her apparent problem children from this past year were themselves products of the transfer portal last off-season.

So I guess the question should be whether she failed to screen for "culture" when recruiting from the portal last season, or if maybe, just maybe, it is harder to teach "culture" in 4 months than she anticipated... If the latter, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...
