New PAC-12 Forming

Well damn. Why didn't they go FBS before, and play in CUSA or the MWC or as an independent? The PAC12 name means that much to them?
Prior to very recent events I doubt the MWC would have considered them. CUSA would be a major travel issue and if you are a California school, the PAC name may well have a lot of value.

For the record I imagine Sac St would be a better football program on many levels than NM St within a few years.

I doubt the PAC-12 want to give up the Northern CA market. Sac ST would be a good option. I thought they should have added SJSU if not for the exit fees.

I more mean, if they had that type of financial backing and commitment, those G5 conferences would have been silly to not welcome them.

If UNLV had gone to the PAC-12, that would have been an even nicer basketball conference.

Saint Mary's is still available.

McMurphy was right.
On the other hand....

Congrats to Gonzaga for joining the PAC-12. They got a great basketball school

Seems like the PAC-12 now needs another school for football

Hmmmm
You know that will be one bad-asz basketball conference. If it wasn’t all western teams we could do worse than joining for all sports. P6 in basketball for sure.

Bill Walton (god rest his soul) must be rolling over in his grave seeing his beloved PAC-X conference go from the conference of champions to a truck stop conference

One more non-football team would help offset

82,

You may want to check the date on that tweet.
It's 9/23. It didn't turn out to be particularly precedent a week later.

The PAC 12 still needs 1 more full member with football. I don't know if the Gonzaga news affects UConn unless there were some additional moves, so I'm wondering what the PAC 12 would need to do to make UConn consider a full invitation. If some AAC programs flip, things get interesting. Maybe the PAC 12 is looking at some more basketball additions...

So Gonzaga is all in, right? But it doesn't help much because they don't play football. I also know that if we go FB only it doesn't help them get to 8 either.

Basically the same problem as the NEWBE.

As far as I know though Texas State and New Mexico State are not on the invite list, at least so far. Sacramento State seems to be trying to position itself for an invitation, but that has not come officially yet either.
