Anyone else see Phil sitting with the Tokoto family?
Karma for the hat prank he pulled on live tvDraft over. Surprised Frazier and Alexander didn't get drafted.
What a fall from grace for Alexander. From top 5 high school recruit, to disappointing year at Kansas, to undrafted one and done.
DeAndre Jordan and Tyson Chandler don't have an offensive game aside from dunks, either.
Knicks need to commit to a full rebuild if they are drafting a project at #4. Porzingis is at least 2-3 years away from putting on proper PF/C weight to defend the post. I wonder if this pick signals an upcoming trade of Melo for future draft picks. I can only hope - I've grown tired of being forced to root for this Syraloser.
One of the analysts, I believe it was BilasI'm not a WCS fan, but he averaged 10.2/40 in college. No idea where you're getting 6 from.
I hope this is the case. He is a one dimensional role player (scoring). Granted the team sucked, but if he was a true superstar, they wouldn't have had the worst record in the pethotic east.
I don't understand all the Kaminsky love. Don't get me wrong, I like him and hope he'll be a solid pro. But he's also the kind of over-celebrated college guy that people have hated in the past. Is he more likable because of his throwback style game or his improvement story or because he looks like a chump but plays like a champ? No idea whatsoever.
He's kind of the opposite of the guys who come out of Duke. Wisconsin is a good program, but is still seen as kind of an underdog. Everyone was rooting for them vs UK, and Duke, thus, they were pulling for Frank. If we had just gotten 4 years of constantly hearing about him, because he was playing for Duke, or Carolina, we'd hate him too.I don't understand all the Kaminsky love. I don't think he'll be an all star, but I see solid 12yr career, a winner.
As a Knicks fan, I personally love the Porzingis pick. Kid can be an absolute stud. Best talent available at that point. Didn't expect Phil to do it, but was happy he did. Getting Grant for Hardaway Jr. was a nice move as well.
Elite Eight, Final Four, NCAA Champions, NIT, NCAA Runner-up, Final Four. Please keep stupid comments to yourself.2)Coach Cal proves he can't coach w the talent he gets
No no no no no. Best indication where you would have been drafted is WHERE YOU ARE DRAFTED.That's why Harrell should have declared after last year when he was a near lock for lottery. The Harrison twins were in better position after their freshmen year as well.
Yeah you are kids a stud.. Carried OSU since day 1Am I missing something on D'Angelo Russell? Turns the ball over a lot, doesn't shoot well from the field, isn't crazy athletic...
Well he carried OSU, shot 45% from the field and 41% from 3 and is a good rebounding guard and passer...so a better question would be what isn't he good at?Am I missing something on D'Angelo Russell? Turns the ball over a lot, doesn't shoot well from the field, isn't crazy athletic...
I admit I have no idea how Porzingis will do. Never seen him play but the film on him shows a very talented and mobile 7 footer. Most of the picks are "projects" anyways. How many in this draft will come in and be a dominant force in their 1st year. I think the gamble will pay off.Not a Knicks fan, and the Porzingis pick was bad. You don't pick a project there, because you can't afford to miss. There are much safer picks there, including a guy like Mudiay who still is a super high-ceiling player. Porzingis is not an NBA-level starter right now. Maybe he is later, but maybe he isn't.
The move for Grant was good, but I don't know if he's athletic enough to be a full-time PG in the NBA. We'll see.

Yeah it was Bilas. He said 6.4 per 40 multiple times but he was way off. He averaged 6.4 rebounds per game while playing 26 minutes. Still not a phenomenal rate for a guy who's 7'1" but for Bilas to say his rebounding is a negative is pretty much wrong I think. One of the analysts, I believe it was Bilas

As a Knicks fan, the thing I took away from the draft is that Phil Jackson absolutely does not care if he fails here. He already won by convincing Dolan to pay him crazy money to do as he pleases, and he's already got enough of a track record prior to this that his NBA legacy is secure irrespective of how either this pick or his Knick tenure in general turn out.
No one truly has any idea how Porzingis will turn out, and the pick is exactly as he described it: a huge risk with a potentially huge payoff. Personally, I think it's reckless, but it is interesting. Part of me is somewhat impressed that he took such a huge gamble, but upon further reflection about his existing legacy, what he inherited, and what he's being paid, I see it moreso as a "Hey, WTF, why not go for it?" move. Historically, these moves have not paid off for the Knicks, but to some degree that does make it slightly more impressive that he was willing to make a decision that has strong potential to be another in a long line of colossal failures for the franchise.
