NBA Discussion 2016/2017

lamb with a fantastic outing tonight. 16 pts on 10 shots and 7 boards. in 21 minutes.

That was a hell of a move.

Not a bad night for alums, Kemba and Lamb had good nights, AD is a boarding machine. Its a very key year for Lamb and Shabazz, this has got to be the year Kemba gets into the Allstar game.

wasn't shooting well but played a good half. hopefully this isn't bad, hamstring injuries blow.

edit:

not good, this is going to keep him out some time.

This sucks. I don't know why this is, but Jeremy is the guy in the League I root the hardest for.

he's been stigmatized because of that harden trade, i still think he's an impact rotation guy for sure. this sucks really bad he'll easily be out a month and the injury is one of those that can linger. not to mention the guy is sort of fighting for minutes.

Been a tough beginning of the year health-wise. Drummond taking the nasty elbow game one (fortunately nothing serious), Kemba not looking 100% and now Lamb out.

This Kemba IT matchup is a treat, these guys really get after it and are dynamic downhill off the pnr.

Kemba back to having zero help. Watched the entire Cs Hornets game today just to watch Kemba getting open looks for his posse of clowns and the Hawes-Kaminsky-Zeller triplets only for everyone to put up brick after brick.

I think the Hornets massively overachieved last year and losing Lin will hurt way more than they initially expected. Hope Kemba's %s don't dip back down.

Highlights from Drummond's 20p/23r game:

He looks much improved on offense this year. He's finally showing a strong faceup game, using his quickness and handles to get by opposing centers. There are few players who can keep up with Drummond's combination of strength and speed.

He looks poised for another all-star season.

Drummond looking leaner and meaner than last year.

Too early to say imo, they struggled at home against the Cs last year with Lin, they don't matchup well with them for whatever reason. Offensively they will miss him a ton but I think losing him in exchange for the hopefully healthy MKG that they didn't have last year is a good tradeoff, he was their bast player a couple years ago and the impact he has defensively is immense, he really helped swing that game around in the 3rd against Miami. I don't like the Bellineli addition at all tho, dude takes all kind of ridiculous leaning and swaying shots that aren't close, if Lamb took those kind of shots Clifford would send a sub to the scorers table before the shot hit the back rim.

I really can never co-sign MKG, I hate his game and think he seriously lacks a skilled offensive game, despite being a decent defender. I think Charlotte has drafted pretty badly since taking Kemba in my opinion but to each his own.

Great defender, great slasher, not a good shot

but he has gotten it better. If he hadn't had all those shoulder injuries he'd be a borderline all-star by this point IMO

How is mkg only considered a decent defender to you? He's one of the best in the league period , it's a commonly held opinion. And zeller was an excellent pick in hindsight looking at Noel's struggles to stay healthy.

I'm into Charlotte , I just don't really now about Clifford. He really is kinda insane he marched off without answering reporters seemingly to bite his tongue before he ripped a player the other day. He is very old school in his approach and that kind of coaching wears on players , very similar to svg which makes sense since he coached under Jeff.

He's decent because he ALWAYS HURT. How can I honestly assess a guy consistently defending against the best players in the league if he's always on the sideline.

Fair enough , think your opinion will change in the coming months tho.

lambs hamstring strain will be reevaluated in 1-2 weeks according to hornets pr. Good news its not a month from now but hopefully he heals fast, CHA needs offense off the bench.

Its very early and I want to see how things hold up after about 20 games, but for all the negative feedback the Rondo and Wade signings generated on NBA Twitter the Bulls offense has looked amazing. Crisp ball movement, its like the space and pace offense from ISU that you were expecting from Hoiberg when he arrived last year.

Rudy having a nice game and 4th quarter and he decides to momentarily spoil it by dribbling out the last 10+ seconds of a tie game and shooting a contested step back airball 3 over Winslow when he could have easily taken a couple dribbles and shot right over the top of him

Didn't catch the game but here was Bazz's line tonight

9 min 3pts 1/2 FG 1/2 3PT 0-0 FT 2REB 2AST 0TO

I'd say that's solid

Don't want to get too excited but kemba is playing out of his mind to start the year (6 games), which is kind of bonkers considering his poor preseason and the fact he is coming off that knee surgery. His PER is scorching and he is also playing great defense. They play utah tomorrow night, which should be a nice challenge

Amin Will HateHard on Twitter

that last tweet from amin, don't recall much talk here of kemba working out with the team when drummond came? perhaps lack of social media back then. either way, kemba is playing like one of the best players in the nba according to most metrics, i wouldn't be shocked if this 'leap' is for real, i've seen him make two leaps out of the blue already ( summer 2010 and summer 2015). everyone on this forum should be watching hornets games, they have two major tests up with the raptors and cavs. Lamb still out with that hammy.

hornets lost this game, but they were without MKG who was primed to guard derozen. derozen is one of the best players in the nba and carried the raps to a win here, still doesn't diminish how crazy kemba has gone. its time to take notice, he has officially taken a leap. would be SHOCKED if he doesnt sport a 40%+ 3pt come February. he is the best point guard in the east imo.

I have a lot of toronto friends who say lowry, which was true last season. But never forget that lowry only became elite when he was 27-29, he doesn't have the early years that walker had persevering on the worst team in nba history to playoff contender, walkers trajectory at the moment is looking splendid. He is a two way guard who is exceptional at creating space in the pnr despite any coverage, but his best traits are : leadership and growth as a player in all facets. at the age of 26 he is what he was to uconn in 2011 but in the nba in 2016. PAY ATTENTION TO THE HORNETS.

His 3pt shot is so improved. He is confident from range which is the most important detail, I remember he used to be a little hesitant from 3 and would go for the pump fake to the rim instead, now hes taking 3s off the dribble when guys go under the screens at the top of the key as a regular go to move. Definitely the best PG in the east right now.

@BUConn10 Yep, his shooting is no joke. For normal posters here who dont watch nba like us , compare how kemba paces himself into the pnr, decides when to snake the big, and make the best decision to kick out or attack on a jumper or drive. I spend a lot of time trashing our screening for uconn, but the guard has to 'go' at the right time too, or else its a moving screen. anyway, we've all watched walkers career since he was a burger boy, i'm pretty sure this shooting leap is for real. exciting stuff. Lamb is also a good player, when he comes back he should be in the rotation for a contender.
