The best way to deal with Muffet and ND is to beat there a#s every time. That is the best retaliation. I like how UConn held its poise and carried themselves like champions.

As for Muffet and ND, they deserve our scorn as well as their own fans' scorn. No respect here.

Do not expect any change from ND in their on court behavior. This type of physical play is acceptable in the eyes of the Irish coach. It has been going on for a long time. So it will continue. If Muffet is truly sorrow for the behavior, Arike would have been suspended by now.

I'm glad that neither Chrystal nor Christyn were hurt by Arike's actions.
 
I think all these apologies are trying to clean things up so the NCAA doesn't make suspension. When you add up everything that happened during that game, a suspension of a half or whole game is warranted. ND would serve themselves well if they initiated the suspension themselves.

We'll NEVER know because Geno ain't talking, but I think the decision to resume the Tennessee series was made over Geno's head. :confused: I can't remember the year, but a media member asked him if he ever considered resuming the Tennessee series, he said No. I don't believe he changed or "softened" his stance on Maya and her mom getting an apology from Tennessee BEFORE the series resumed. I believe Geno was pressured by external forces in high places to resume the series.

No, it was Geno. He and Holly are friendly. There other antagonists in the Tenn athletic department have moved on (I’m not referring to Pat)
 
I wouldn’t mind ending the series. I mean look at how our games with them at their arena is like the biggest thing in the world. We help them in recruiting by building their brand and visibility. I think if we stop playing them and build other rivalries I think other programs can succeed and potentiallly Take some of the recruiting luster away from ND. Recruiting is the life line of a program. ND got to where it is because of the Big East and the rivalry with UCONN. I think Tennessee has lost some of its brand from not playing UConn. Just my opinion

And these are only the incidents that made it into the press. The upper pointy portion of an iceberg comes to mind.
 
As a UCONN WCBB fan but ND alumnus, I agree that Ms. McGraw's twitter statement didn't go far enough, and neither did Ogunbalwale's statement, in which she essentially blamed Geno for her own actions. The UCONN WCBB team is owed an apology, especially Crystal. Not sure what is up with ND; I thought we were better than this.

Is there anything wrong with that? It does not take a bench clearing brawl to inure a player and jeopardize their season or career.
 
This is nothing more than McGraw appeasing the higher ups at Notre Dame! Actions speak louder than words, if she really wanted to teach Ogunbowale a lesson she would bench her for their next game. I can vividly remember getting thrown out of a game for using choice language with an umpire over a strike 3 call when I played baseball at UConn. Coach Baylock had a rule that if you got tossed from a game, then you didn't play in the next game. I was red hot and had something like 12 hits in my past 15 abs, a couple hrs and 2bs, and a bunch of rbis. Despite how well I was playing, Coach Baylock sat my ass down and I learned my lesson. I never once argued a pitch again in my career at UConn!

"'I don't like anything that makes kids look bad,' Auriemma said. 'Diana bangs in a three and then gets into a spitting contest with a kid. Great players don't come down to the level of anybody. They set the standard. They make people react to them. They don't react to anybody.'"

Speaks volumes, especially in contrast to what happened (and didn't happen) in the game on Sunday.

The technical is not the issue. That hurt nobody but Arike and her team. The issue is the hip check and the head-hunt, both of which were obviously deliberate and either of which could have caused serious damage.

I was referencing the tweet that appears in CL82's post above, which addresses the technical

I agree that the on-court dangerous acts are a bigger deal. (Not that Taurasi is a stranger to those either).

Personally, I would still like to see Arike suspended for a game to really match actions to words. We'll see if that happens...

Ahhh memories. Randy Smith was great. Of course, Geno was/is a quote machine. Love this one:

"I can't get myself to be hard on K.J. like I am on Diana," Auriemma said. "Diana's Eddie Haskell. You just want to smack her. She's the kid you want to hit in the back of the head with a spitball or put spiders in her lunch box. She throws balls off the backboard to herself so she can score. And then she wants an assist too. She watches too much TV."

BTW, Tasha Pointer was one of the greatest trash talkers the game has ever seen (or heard).

4...... She did something in the Louisville game..... think she undercut Fuehring or Shook going for a rebound. Cant even remember if she was called for a foul or not. Maybe that doesnt qualify for losing one's mind..... but our section of the Coliseum wasn't too happy about it (at least I wasnt :rolleyes:)
