Or maybe there is a reason that Jewel left early. Maybe things at ND are not all as happy as they would like to make out.

Explained in detail here: Jewell Loyd Got Game - Bleacher Report

Many of her peers are fiercely loyal to ND. Cable came back for a 5th year. Nelson came back for a fifth year. Turner came back for a fifth year. Allen made a special point to be at the Final Four (iirc, she flew back from playing overseas). Achonwa worked for the team when she was rehabbing her ACL tear. All of them overlapped with Jewell.

Jewell had a rough time at ND. Many of her peers had a great experience. Though, it should be noted that basically all the players from Jewell's era are gone now, with only Brianna Turner remaining.

Frankly, you look more like the Grinch who stole Christmas. :D
Eh. Maybe related in some way but very different in "comportment".

@Bigfoot: Vic's team to my knowledge never played to hurt. BUT--that wasn't the question! It was hypothetical: Read what you cut and pasted.
Had Viv or Itty Bitty or both done the AO thing would Vic have sat them during the last Uconn/Ms St encounter. I seriously doubt that: He needed both to win. Muffet Needs AO to win.

I don't like answering hypotheticals, but since you insist: yes, I think Vic would sit anyone who played dirty.

If any UConn player had acted this way multiple times and Geno had not taken any action, there would be 100 pages of anti-Huskie stories across every TV, radio, and internet media.
Probably based on how much discussion the 140 point game in the NCAAs last year generated and how Geno was criticized for it.

That's right. Part of the reason for that is the sounds (conspiracy?) of silence by the so-called pundits of WCBB. Not a peep from Rebecca, Kara, Chiney, Mechelle, LaChina or Debbie on the elephant in the room. They watched the game. They've seen the videos. Surely they know about the flagrant in the Oregon State game. A simple "there's no place in the game for that" would have been appropriate seems to me.

Oh well.

It took a while, but pundits finally started speaking out against Grayson Allen's inappropriate on court behavior while he was at Duke. Apparently eventually there is a point where critical mass is reached and talking heads don't have to ignore what is obvious. Maybe we will see that with Ogunbowale if her antics continue.

It's hard for me to imagine Geno ignoring behavior like that, or one of his players acting like that in the first place.

We already know how he'd handle it. When Taurasi hit a 3-pointer and clapped in the face of a trash-talking opponent, he immediately sat her ass on the bench. And that was for *clapping*, not even a technical or unsportsmanlike foul, much less head-hunting an opponent.

Timely.

"There’s one thing that you won’t see a UConn women’s basketball player do on the court. And that is disrespect the opposing teams’ players or coach. If that happened, Geno Auriemma and Chris Dailey would have them sitting on the bench so fast and they wouldn’t even know when they might get off of it."

Isn't ND a parochial institution? I dare say these actions are not consistent with the behavior and social protocols they profess to govern themselves by. Haven't they prided themselves for decades as being one the top academic and sports programs in the country? And THIS is how they treat their guests, an opposing head coach, his players and the small contingent of UConn fans in attendance? Really?

And all of this in front of a national TV audience? Then refuse to acknowledge UConn in any of their apologies?!?....really? UConn Nation already had no love for anything Notre Dame, now this. I think the only program UConn may dislike more than ND is Tennessee.

Well..maybe it's time to end the series with ND if their leader, Miss Muffet can't do any better than this.
First, an apology to Geno, his coaches and players should have already been given. It's absence is glaring, and speaks volumes. Notre Dame MUST show UConn the respect and common courtesy they expect when they come to Gampel or the XL.

Allowing her players to disrespect the UConn players, coaches and fans is unacceptable. I'm beginning to lose respect for Muffet. The next time she stands behind a microphone, and praises her players and program in a presser, somebody hand me a "barf bag" please. The good thing for Lou is she'll NEVER have to play in South Bend ever again. :D

I know this falls under the "easy for you to say" category, but: As the educator she professes to be, Coach McGraw, knowing that there would not be another opportunity to do this in person, should have told Ms. Ogunbwale immediately after the game to put on her sweats, go to the visitor's locker room, ask to see Crystal Dangerfield, apologize to her, then ask for Coach Auriemma, and apologize to him. Accompanied by an assistant coach if necessary.

As it is, all the player and her teammates learned is that when someone does something undeniably wrong, dont admit full responsibility and use the public relations folks to help craft a mild mea culpa that does not really address the real harm.

Being an educator includes facing up to the hard things that come our way, and thereby teaching our charges how to live honorably.

All the grief that Coach K and Grayson Allen are getting for the trip in the Elon game...... at least our Coach set up a meeting after the game with the Elon Coach and Player to apologize. Coach K > Coach Muffin

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said that after the game -- a 72-61 Duke victory -- Allen apologized to Santa Ana and Elon coach Matt Matheny during a meeting that the Blue Devils' coach set up for the four.

Well the crowd there was electric....
We all got a charge out of that post! But we have been asked to accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative. I'm not trying to short circuit you here, but the current atmosphere demands better conduct.

Coach Muffin, I like that :)

Muffin would sooner chop off her own arm before apologizing, or having her player apologize, to UConn.

I resemble that remark! What are you implying???:D:rolleyes:
This could be a great idea for a series of insurance commercials. You could play your righteous indignation into big bucks. A company like Geico might go for it. ;)
