Looking at this video, it appears that T'yanna has mastered an understanding of the backboard, in that she has learned where to put the ball (while on the move) on the glass to bank it into the basket. That fact alone makes me a BIG fan of hers.

For next years recruiting class, I want Geno to sign a Quick playmaking guard that can be a Defensive Stopper. I don't care if she's a good scorer or not. Team needs a Defensive Stopper.
You mean like an Ari McDonald? She was the quickest guard I saw last season in WCBB. I think there are enough of them to go around, but the question is, do they want to come play for UConn, and would they be a good fit in your program? All you need is one. We'll have enough guards that can get Geno a bucket when he really needs one.

Geno likes to ask his players "can you be great when I need you to be?" There will be several guards on this team in the foreseeable future that can answer with an "emphatic" yes!!! So if you can find one, I agree. Moriah Jefferson and Kia Nurse spoiled us rotten. Kia was never as quick as Jefferson, but she could keep her mark in front of her. Dangerfield became a pretty good shut-down guard in her junior/senior year. I really like to see Chrystal reach that "shut-down" plateau this season.

That won't work for some UConn fans. The first thing they will say is that UConn is playing four against five. They mistakenly think that a team needs five scorers on the floor at all times. Of course, that is not true.

I respect but disagree with your POV on this. First and foremost Geno himself has said recently said that the roster has been lacking such a defensive player and that ‘hopefully’ someone on the current roster will grow into that role. Second seems we have been having this disagreement for a few years now with history not been on your side. Mikayla Coombs and Aubrey Griffin were/are very capable defenders. The former was not more successful at UCONN because in your own words offensively UCONN was playing 4 on 5 when Mikayla was in the game. It is not her defensive tool kit that is keeping Aubrey from getting more minutes or even becoming a starter. The offense stalls wen Aubrey comes in the game & there is entirely too much hesitation which is puzzling for a player who was such a prolific scorer in HS.
Some will immediately point out Kia Stokes as an example of a player who did not contribute much on the offense end without considering these two important differences: 1) Kia Stokes was a dominating rebounder and shot blocker.
2)Kia Stokes in her last two seasons at UCONN never took to the floor without three and sometimes four other UConn players that were AA players. This version of UCONN cannot afford a player that is strictly a defensive specialist at the expense of offensive efficiency.

I agree up to the part where she's not a good scorer. Bree Beal just flashed into my head. And actually, I think she can score, but many times..just doesn't make it a priority. I would take an average defender...that was quick and could put up numbers when needed. I really like Kamorea Arnold. She's MoJeff quick!

You must have missed where I said "they said". Those are not my words. UConn cannot afford any player playing at the expense of offensive efficiency. If this version has four effective scorers and the fifth a defensive stopper, they will be successful.

There isn't a lot of new video of Todd, most of it is a few years old.

Unfortunately there won't be and what is available during her 2019 - 2020 doesn't show what she is able to do. She moved to Royal Crown when it launched and the supporting cast was a mixed bag of talent. If you go to her YouTube channel you may see a few of those games but take what you see with a grain of salt because of it.

The question is how she developed this year because basketball in Ontario has been virtually non-existent because of COVID. There have been rumours that her program have trained anyways, but there's nothing to confirm. However, if she has been, it would be against some good guards in Day-Wilson, Tesson and Hylton so she would be pushing herself.

Still skeptical of UCONN being a fit but anything is possible. Style of play primarily for me. Gut feeling is Syracuse or Georgia.

There is a difference between not being a great scorer and not being able to score at all. Muhl, Kelly Ferris, etc. are examples of Huskie who started hitting 3pointers, not allowing the defense to play 5 on 4. In the big games, Geno can't give the opposition advantages.

Ice Brady vs Breya Cunningham Part Deux from the weekend. First couple minutes are missing.

Ice: 24 in gold, BC: 25 in blue

Brady hit two impressive, long jumpers off the dribble and a runner off glass in the first quarter. She definitely likes jumpshots. Missed a few in the 3rd, but hit a couple towards the end. Makes a terrific move in the post around BC using her off hand at 28:55. Also made a great pass at 31:30. Hit two more mid-range jumpers late, missed a tough shot against BC that could've won it at the end of regulation. Pump-fakes BC off the dribble and scores at the rim in OT. She missed another possible game-winner before the Stars won it at the buzzer.

Chris Dailey now following ('23) Eve Fiala after Morgan Valley did last week.

Also, CD's now following maybe the revelation of the last few months 2025 PG Aaliyah Chavez out of Texas. Chavez is ranked 12th by ASGR but might be top-5 material.

Aaliyah Chavez - Class of 2025

Lubbock Nitro

Aaliyah is a 5'8, shifty point guard with a knockdown three-point shot. She plays with a ton of confidence and energy. She is a fantastic passer and loves the no-look pass in transition. She handles the ball well and is extremely explosive, embarrassing defenders on multiple occasions. Her competitive nature is hard to match and she is pedal to the medal from start to finish.

Morgan Valley joins CD in following Chloe Briggs ('23). Valley also following 2024 center Roisin Grandberry from Illinois. Grandberry is on ESPN's '24 watch list and is a Blue Star 30.

Two things that have impressed me about Brady beyond her obvious talent. One is that her BB IQ is very high for a college soph., never mind a HS JR. She knows her position, options, directs and plays off her guards, passes well, and recognizes immediately whether she's open to shoot or not. Not much hesitation at any time. And two, she played the whole second half and was gassed for much of the 4th Q and OT. But her effort and fundamentals barely slipped. She never stopped trying to front the posts on D and kept going to the boards for 2nd chances and kept moving around the paint and coming to the ball on offense. UConn is getting a great kid and her projections to me are exceptional once she's in UConn condition.
