March 16 Games Thread

Looks like Grambling is a bit undersized, probably no one over 6'1?.
Already 10-1, Grambling timeout, just under 6 minutes of the 1st quarter
It's a total mismatch. Baylor has much better talent.

Oregon 6-0, quick T.O. by Seattle U. This one will probably be no-contest.

Same with SC vs NC A&T, 15-3, just under 6 minutes, Gamecocks. Oh, A'ja trampled a 5'6(?) Aggie player during a full court layup, no call:rolleyes:

So nice to see Villanova and Harry Perratta again! Long time no see! V still shooting 3s in bunches. Remember that Israeli player who helped beat UConn with 3s -- she couldn't miss that night.

Are you thinking of Katia Levitsky ? That was a long time ago!

Ha ha. I was only stuck w/ Baylor for a couple minutes, and I changed the channel. Oregon-Seattle U. tipping off.
Your lucky as I am stuck with Baylor. At what point will they pull the plug on this debacle. 27-4? I mean it not like the ballet I get to see when UConn does this....this I see just brute force trauma Head bang

Is it too early to start talking about a triple double halfway thru the 1st quarter? Ionescu has 7 pts. 3 reb 3 assists. 17-2 Ducks. They haven't hit a 3 yet, it could be worse.

Ionescu is looking fantastic

Oregon has already brought 4 subs into the game, still in the 1st quarter. They should be well rested for their 2nd round game.

25-6 after 1Q. I know the automatic qualifiers are part of what makes the Tournament what it is, but some of these teams have literally zero chance of winning. You aren't seeing hardly any of these 30 or 40 point beatdowns in the men's bracket, still a huge gap in the women's game between haves and have nots. We'll probably see some 50 point margins in the 1st round even.

9, 4 and 4 for Ionescu in Q1. She could have a triple double in the first half!

Happy day! Chou is w/out the cast and playing! Doesn't quite have her shot yet.

Hebard blows a layup that should've been an assist for Ionescu, then stole a rebound from her. No help at all from her teammate!

welp... that was a boring start to the tourney.... good thing there are men's games to watch as well. hope things get better for the later session

First round is always a bore. Sometimes you get a 5-12 upset or an entertaining 8-9 or 7-10 but simply too many overmatched teams. 2nd round is where the tournament basically starts.

Just so you all know, I will NOT be buying the Samsung GalaxyS9 phone..EVER!
I almost prefer Mountain Dew...

There are several new commercials w/ Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee and Charles Barkley. Those are kind of fun. I'm not even sure what they are selling, but they make me chuckle. Have you seen the one with the turtle rat?

That's one thing I'd like to see changed. What kind of changes can they make?

Oregon is going to have a bigger lead at the half than Baylor, that's a surprise. 48-15. I think every healthy player has been in the game.

Good question, I really don't know. Taking bids away from some of the conferences seems like it would only make the gap worse.

To be honest, I wouldn't recognize the name even if the correct one was supplied. The experience was too shocking. I'm sure UConn didn't lose very often even in those days, especially to Villanova when the Huskies were in the Big East.

What's really scary about the Oregon-Seattle game is that the Ducks could be playing better. 1-7 behind the arc, Sabally isn't doing much, Hebard is "only" 3-6 from the floor, kinda poor for a 65% FG shooter on the season. Getting more scoring from the bench than normal but Ionescu is the only starter who is putting up big scoring numbers. She has 14 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Of course Seattle U., can't buy a bucket, only shooting 24% from the floor.

Because conference tournaments are only in existence to make additional revenue, there's no guarantee that the winner will be one of the better teams. So, they could limit the conference tournament to the top 8 teams and do away with the 1 and 2 game byes that a lot of conferences have. Then hopefully only the top teams automatically qualify. However, teams that didn't qualify for the conference tournament can still make the Big Dance as at-large teams, which is every team's goal.

So who is the worse team so far, Seattle, Grambling...
