Liam McNeeley Appreciation Thread

That was a Flagg-esque performance. Amazing.
And he were go on a night where “our guy” goes off we compare him to the guy that trolled our school. Amazing mentioning that name on this board should be something that is moderated out.

He fell just a few points short from setting the mark for the most points by a Freshman this year. I believe Flagg had a 42-point game.
This is true, but Liam's 38 at a ranked Creighton is much more impressive than Flagg's 42 at home against a bad Notre Dame. This is 100% a biased view and I stand behind it.

Hard to argue that. Many of Flaggs points were at the line as well. That last night was the most impressive freshman game of the season. It’s going to get lots of buzz - people like frosh sensations.

It should

And it should.

That was an epic performance - one for the ages.

I was thinking last night — only 1 team wins the National Championship.

You’ve got to enjoy the special moments in every season.

Last night was one to be enjoyed.

My favorite part was he was encouraging Creighton fans to get up / get excited at what was happening.

Very Cam like…

Very Khalid like..

Very UCONN LIKE!!!

He's so much better than anyone on the floor it’s a scary.
I just hope Liam’s play inspires others to bring their “A” game… that will be the biggest factor in our teams success .

Solo missed way too many easy shots last night. Dude, best shooter in Div 1? Not last night. I know hostile environment but watching those 10-12 ft uncontested jump shots hit front of rim over and over again was hard to watch.

And Karaban, I wouldn’t mind if his shots looked better and just weren’t going in. He is something like 4-34 from 3 range recently.

I think if you tried to miss from three-point range, but hit the rim/backboard you would hit more than four out of 34 shots by an accident.

And Johnson, got to get him more involved in the offense. His biggest issue last night was the Phantom Fouls that he continues to get called for! The last one I was like scratching my head.

And others looked lost on the floor on offense but picked it up on Defense which was good enough last night!

That was a Flagg-esque performance. Amazing.
I watched him and Flagg on that crazy great team they were on last season and Liam was definitely a point forward bringing the ball up and creating for teammates.
This game is a wake-up call for Hurley but he’s already awake. He knows who the offense goes through now.
Imagine when teams have to collapse on McNeeley leaving Solo and Alex more open and they actually make their normal % of shots?
Remember how dominant Donyell was by junior year? Liam has achieved that in year 1.

It's easy when they don't play pressure defense unlike Marquette and St. John's.
1) True. But there is a benefit in being a 6-7 guard. You have better vision and length to protect the ball. Tristan and Cam were both tall guards and the teams you mention also play tall, I believe. Also think both sides of the ball. He can pressure them when they go small. Lot's of pros and cons.

2) Our point guard in the past few games was clearly injured. Marquette and St. John's caught a bit of a break. We still went 1-1.

3) We could not possibly commit more turnovers, although we could match it, lol. Still we went 1-1.

We shall see.

My favorite part of that pic is the silent crowd.
Such a satisfying win on so many levels.

Hurley is going to need that extended tunnel in Omaha for the foreseeable future. He may need a tunnel to the bench from his hotel room next year.

Most impressively, he managed to do it even though someone’s cousin’s nephew had a high ankle sprain and wasn’t back to 100% for 5 years

It’s so important to have guys like that on your team. The fearlessness is contagious, especially for the kids that don’t have it naturally. This team needs it more than most.

Liam back brings as much back to the overall team psyche as it does the skill level.

He missed 9 games? Flagg and Brooke on Wooden Awards list but Liam should be on the conversation if not for injury?

Big ups to Mr. McNeeley- I think he just locked up a NCAA Tournament bid for Husky Nation with that performance last night!!!!

What was the nickname Manning got when he led Kansas to a chip. Maybe Liam will earn a similar nickname. I watched the game from a poker room with no sound. Most of the games had broken and it was quiet except for me yelling at the TV especially when Alex went to the line and bricked the front end of the one and one. Man what is up with him.
Danny and The Miracles. That was a special team for Kansas.

There are some similarities. Kansas lost 2 games in Maui and had some issues in the Big 8 but Danny was a senior. This was almost 40 years ago in 1988.

Those Montverde Academy players are something else. This is good advertisement for that program. Cooper Flagg, Liam McNeeley, Robert Wright 3rd, Derik Queen, and Asa Newell are kicking arse as freshmen in college.
