I've talked to actually coaches and most love the portal because they can rebuild within days.Hurley has already expressed dissatisfaction with the portal and NIL
Considering the revenue from the new media deals the NBA is in the middle of completing that contract appears to be very low. The Buss family however has nowhere near the resources of the ownership of many other franchises. In comparison to normal people, yes, they are wealthy. Compared to most of the NBA, they're in the lower third, possibly worse.View attachment 101484
Are the Lakers a poverty franchise?
Can we all agree that when this happens today, we hold a bigger parade than the last one?Woke up today. With wood. Did a right side roll and dropped to my knees. Dog licked my face. Then, a two minute chat wit my Lord Saviour, .
That's all I got.
Off to toil today.
I think we rejoice today.
I imagine DB is doing what he can. Keep in mind that he doesn't have the authority to pay DH (any coach in fact) whatever he believes they are worth. People above him need to sign off on it.I wonder what our AD is doing. He better have had a new contract proposal ready for Hurley when he got back from L.A. How could Hurley turn down L.A. without a new contract with UConn. He'd lose his leverage.

I’ll admit I don’t know how the endless recruiting process works but I just googled that event and it’s Monday through Wednesday. Does Hurley usually stay around for all three days? I’d assume not.I thought he had practice today?
He could undoubtedly delegate to his very capable assistants for at least a portion of it. Especially if their deals are in the process of being sweetened like many believe they are.I’ll admit I don’t know how the endless recruiting process works but I just googled that event and it’s Monday through Wednesday. Where was the deal during/after the Kentucky fiasco? We dodged a bullet there. That doesn't instill confidence that he'll get it right this time. He had time to get Geno a new 5 year deal to make him the highest paid women's coach. Priorities....The assumption of complete unpreparedness is the antithesis of EVERYTHING UConn AD has shown.
I don’t get this belief?
“Like yeah, let’s just start the process after wheels are back down.”
Laughable.
I think they are going to be disappointed one way or the other. I'm somewhat convinced that Dan is not the guy to coach LeBron and win now. If he's going, LeBron is leaving and it's a rebuild. That's what my gut says.I just want Laker fans to be disappointed cause that'd be hilarious for a week
I tend to lean that it’s about money, but not in a greedy way. I think this about being paid a commensurate salary to Bill Self and the acknowledgment that Danny deserves the gravitas that has been earned. All about respect not about the bag.I hope this is a money move. He gave up leverage when he said he wouldn't leave UConn for Kentucky. Contract was slow to develop. Not really competitive with Self and Squid. Possibly thought CT shorted him based on his loyalty. The NBA mention open a window for a better outcome.
My head canon/theory is that AD Dave knows exactly what he's doing and the hold-up to getting a new Hurley contract in place is above his head.I wonder what our AD is doing. If true, that’s insulting. Not sure I believe Trilly on any of this, but FWIW

I'm at the point where I'd be shocked if he left. One thing that's confused me through this cycle - how is the "opportunity" to coach Lebron a selling point?
Never let a good crisis go to wasteMy head canon/theory is that AD Dave knows exactly what he's doing and the hold-up to getting a new Hurley contract in place is above his head.
He tacitly supported Hurley listening to the Lakers' interest in the guise of "hey, I need an earth-shattering competing offer in hand in order to get our people to move on this."
Hurley went through the dog and pony show, got the Lakers offer, with the intention of using it as leverage to help Benedict jolt the powers that be into finishing his new UConn contract with some urgency. If he were really blown away he might take it, but I think both he and Benedict know that the play is almost certainly to get a beefier contract here.
Hurley, again with tacit approval from Benedict, has played coy in order to keep the powers that be uncomfortable and eager to finish the deal.
Just because AD Dave wanted to slap a contract in front of Hurley, it didn’t mean Hurley wanted to sign it immediately.Where was the deal during/after the Kentucky fiasco? We dodged a bullet there. That doesn't instill confidence that he'll get it right this time. He had time to get Geno a new 5 year deal to make him the highest paid women's coach. Priorities....
Best profit margins and generally mainstream popular because of the lack of any strong flavors.Come on Dan! A CT brewery has to start Brewing a beer named after you. (How come it's always 'an easy drinking blonde ale btw?')
