This is what I thought would happen to Oklahoma honestly. They should get used to being an afterthought. Maybe they can rekindle their series with Nebraska for the Didn’t you used to be Important Cup.

Oklahoma is an above average SEC program, but I think they will struggle to be one of the top programs. I think the SEC and Big 10 will go to division or pods in the future as you want more schools in the conference to win something each year.

I disagree. Oklahoma is much better supported by donors than Nebraska (oil money). USA ranked colleges ADs based on donor contributions from 2005 to 2022:

#8 Oklahoma $597 million (#6 in SEC)
#42 Nebraska $236 million (#10 in Big 10)

And, Nebraska is in the middle of nowhere and Oklahoma is ~3 hour drive to Dallas and ~6 hour drive to Houston. Oklahoma regularly gets the top football players out of Oklahoma (produces ~4 to 5+ 4*s per year) plus they get about 4 of the top 30 players out of Texas each year. Nebraska has recruited one top 30 Texas HS football player in the past 10 years+. And, Oklahoma football has been relevant on a national scale in recent years and Nebraska hasn't been relevant in 25 years.

Oklahoma may be fine but all these great teams are going to face reality. A very good hitter can join an all-star lineup but someone has to bat 7-9. The SEC is the definition of a murderers row. If there is such a thing as cultural differences, Oklahoma may suffer from it. Okie State may actually benefit with an easier schedule than Oklahoma, although this year Okie state sucks.

I do. I worked with a crazy Nebraska fan and his house was a shrine to Nebraska football. In their heyday, they were one of the few football team on TV al the time and they were able to recruit nationally including RBs Doug DuBose from Montville and Mike Rozier from New Jersey.

Not gonna lie, I had a good laugh at “one top 30 Texas recruit” being the bar for success in recruiting football talent. Meanwhile Nebraska is going to finish with (yet another) top 25 class this year and possibly even top 15.
