Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

Love the creative thinking, but bwahahaha.

If they wanted to help us they would bring back a FB division.
You asked what they could provide. He told you and people thought it was a laugh riot. The MWC basically created a two tiered system of payouts for mediocre G5s. SMU plays for free. The Big East making some moves to keep its top product in-house isn’t some unreasonable moonshot - shouldn’t we expect some effort on their part?

Besides credits and share, isn’t there issues with baseball scheduling and refs generally? I’m not saying we should get the MWC special treatment deal, but we should get a lot of perks.

How about they work to offer sweetheart scheduling agreements or other inducements to help us find a football only home?
You'll get nothing. And you'll like it!

We may want to take a minute to think through the idea of demanding extra money from the BE. Everything has a quid pro quo and the BE would want a severe increase in departure fees in return for this.

Personally I would be against anything that would increase our payment to the BE when (it isn't an if) we leave.
We don't have much leverage here. Big East knows we will leave the minute the opportunity presents itself. There is no way Big East will give us extra revenue knowing we gonna leave anyway since there is no way they can give us enough revenue to keep us around. Also, there is no way UConn should commit to higher exit fees etc.

So, the best deal is we stay status quo. When it is time for us to leave, we pay our exit fees and say our goodbyes.

I will never understand the logic of the on campus stadium, besides the insane disregard for accessibility. If we’re concerned that students are leaving the first second they have the option to (I.e. third quarter buses), why do we think being able to leave at any time will induce more of them to stay? It’s an interest problem guys, not an access problem

Yesterday was a football problem. Yikes that was bad. I wasn’t watching for a period of time and was thinking that when I sat back down to continue watching the stands would be empty. No surprise when that’s exactly what happened.

Bingo. Although an on campus stadium would be nice, let's look at the Linc for Temple. It is right off I-95 with ample nearby parking, so very easy access. They can't pack (or get decent crowds) the stadium, which is only 7-8 miles away, cuz of poor interest in their football product. Their highest draw last year for a home game was 18,388.

100%...I've been to way to many games on campus where the majority of students just don't care or lose interest. And it's got worse over the years with social media distractions, smart phones, etc...Free entrance to hockey games, baseball. Soccer games that empty out at halftime, if they ever show up. There's no one to blame or nothing to fix as just way to many of them have the attention span of a.........it just is what it is !

Yeah because conference networks have worked out so great for everyone but the Big 10 and SEC.
Like I said, just judging based on every other power conference having one. The argument has been made that UConn doesn’t bring the carriage fees for the ACCN. Well, a Big 12 network would certainly help our case, no?

Carriage is so declining growth.

Who starts a business model knowing that your subscriber base is declining. Worst investment ever.

Doesn’t justify startup costs.

These businesses aren’t cash and carry. They have large capital investments they have to show growth over a span of time.

Like, it isn't just, add UConn, get carriage…boom, we make money.

The only reason there is an acc network is it is a pet project of former Espn leader John Skipper. Loved his tar heels, I think he saw growth there when everyone else thought it was meh.

Also, Espn got a little too big for its britches with sec network success they thought they could duplicate it with longhorn and acc network. At end of day, acc network is largely an online entity. That's its future.

Maybe if we are in the year 2008.

Given what's going on with UConn Basketball, I would think ESPN would salivate forcefully over the prospects of UConn/Duke/UNC twice a year. Good lord. And that wouldn't be on the ACCN.

Again, you’re missing my point. I simply said if there were a Big 12 network it would improve our changes. That’s literally all I mean.

When ACC added SMU/Calford part of the argument was “hey new markets we can make money on through carriage fees”

I would think so, but no movement. UConn owns mens and womens hoops right now.

The women are top 2, men top 3.

You can't be a seriously be the home of college hoops if UConn is not in your portfolio.

There’s going to be little to no appetite from carriers in yet another sports network. Plus, the Big 12 is with ESPN and Fox whereas the three conferences with networks are with one or the other. The network either owns or is a partner in the network…that’s messy when you have the deals that the Big 12 has.
