Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

We may want to take a minute to think through the idea of demanding extra money from the BE. Everything has a quid pro quo and the BE would want a severe increase in departure fees in return for this.

Personally I would be against anything that would increase our payment to the BE when (it isn't an if) we leave.

Yeah we really don't have that much leverage to be demanding more revenue without increasing our exit penalties.

What would you like to see them do?
Besides credits and share, isn’t there issues with baseball scheduling and refs generally? I’m not saying we should get the MWC special treatment deal, but we should get a lot of perks.

How about they work to offer sweetheart scheduling agreements or other inducements to help us find a football only home?

Well, if the Big East wants us to stay - then they need to help us find a home for our football. They should try to find creative ways for us to get a football only conference invite that makes sense. How they do this? They may need to offer additional revenue streams so the new football conference we join doesn't have to pay out so much to us. This could be something negotiated where Uconn gets X dollars from the Big East while the _______Football conference gives us X dollars less than their established teams. With time the Big East dollars go down and the _______Football conference revenue share goes up. This allows UConn to stay in the Big East while finding a more secure home for football. And why would the Big East want to do this - well to be fair - They need UConn as much as UConn basketball may need them.

Love the creative thinking, but bwahahaha.

If they wanted to help us they would bring back a FB division.

The Big East just hopes and prays we don’t find another option. It will never go further than that.

If we want to make more money in our current situation we need to spend everything we can on football, win tons of games and try and get a better deal from CBS. If we do that, the B12 will add us anyway and we won’t need it.

You asked what they could provide. He told you and people thought it was a laugh riot. The MWC basically created a two tiered system of payouts for mediocre G5s. SMU plays for free. The Big East making some moves to keep its top product in-house isn’t some unreasonable moonshot - shouldn’t we expect some effort on their part?

You'll get nothing. And you'll like it!

We don't have much leverage here. Big East knows we will leave the minute the opportunity presents itself. There is no way Big East will give us extra revenue knowing we gonna leave anyway since there is no way they can give us enough revenue to keep us around. Also, there is no way UConn should commit to higher exit fees etc.

So, the best deal is we stay status quo. When it is time for us to leave, we pay our exit fees and say our goodbyes.
