Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

Is RedditCFB a Key source these days? It wouldn't shock me if they had some random connects in athletic departments

I think he'd be thrilled, as it is a solution that allows him to stay in the Big East, which he loves

That solution does not keep us in the big east if a p4 conference comes calling, nor would Hurley want to

UConn publicly mentioned means that the MW and PAC are now going to merge and sign a big enough TV deal that San Jose State will be making more TV $ than UConn
And we get perceived as being left out, again, despite not being (publicly) active in any of the discussions.:D

SDSU has made that mistake

PAC-8 Would make a lot of sense for UConn FB. The travel would be tough but it’s only 7 trips every two years. We can focus on local opponents in the OOC. UMass, Buffalo, Cuse, BC, Temple, Rutgers.
PAC-8 with limited travel would make sense for UCONN

The rest of the league in the coming years adding more and more west coast teams and putting UConn on an island may not make sense. All of a sudden we are traveling to the west coast 10 times a year instead of 7. Maybe need an escape clause should they expand by x number of teams west of the Mississippi.

Would that still be better than status quo? Unfortunately, it may be.

Of course a 5 year GOR kinda helps with that.

We'd be traveling 4 times (9 teams, 8 conference games, 4 of which are away) and it is wildly unlikely it would go beyond 5 (10+ teams, 9 conference games, 4/5 of which are away)

This is turning into one of the more brutal public humiliations in sports history. The Pac 12 was making press releases for days about which schools they were going to add, and now they are hoping for Utah State to say "yes".

The smart move is for both sides, the MWC and Pac 2+4, to stand down and work something out.

How the fudge did this silly slap fight between a bunch of mid-majors in the mountains boomerang right into our nuts?

I am not saying you don’t do it. Maybe you do. (And yes, i typed that fast before. It’s not 10 trips it’s 9-10 conference games with half that many trips. But still will leave only 1 or 2 slots for some local games)

But we are so damn jaded about getting into a football conference that we are salivating at anything. People need to slow down and think hard about it. Joining an unstable mid major on the west coast ….. i am not sure the positives outweigh the negatives.

If we did join it’d be kinda depressing because it would mean we don’t believe the B12 or even ACC is ever gonna materialize. At least no time soon.

There is no way they would want us without a piece of our basketball. Any scheduling “alliance” would need to be pretty meager IMO. I don’t want our crown jewel with its hands tied when it comes to OOC scheduling. One game per year. Alternate each year men’s/womens That’s about all I’d be willing to do. There would be a few decent teams there (Gonzaga, SDSU) but a lot of dreck (USU, Fresno).

No way I’d do it with a GOR of more than 5 years.

Not that i matters. MWC is already showing signs of crumbling after their half day of solidarity. It’ll be what was predicted in the beginning. The top MWC teams under the PAC name and the flotsam (Wyoming, Hawaii, SJSU, etc) being jettisoned.

Some poor poker players on the board

If UConn somehow ends up there...

Imagine it's 2018 and someone told you in the next several years...

We'll have Cal, Stanford, SMU in the ACC...
UCLA, USC, Oregon and Washington in the B1G...
Arizona, Cincy, UCF, BYU, Houston, Arizona St in the B12...
UConn football, Gonzaga and Utah St. in the Pac12
UConn basketball in the Big East...
