It does not create opportunities. In the short term, it creates opportunities for UConn to schedule games against schools that are being dropped by Army. For example, in 2024/2025 there are dates that line up with Wake Forest for a home and home. LT, it does make scheduling tougher, but not insurmountable to build schedules.
It also seems that Army has decided to downscale their future schedules. They were scheduling 2 to 3 P5 schools per year and you won't see that anymore as they will have 2 OOC games to schedule each year. Army is 2-21 in the past 10 years against P5 schools.
Just in last couple of years BYU, Army, Liberty have moved into a conference. The writing is on the wall.
UConn getfootball only deal, or beg for an affiliate deal for Big
Big east isn’t bringing in enough revenue to sustain long term, and it looks everyone is finding their safe space.
It sucks. UConn hoops back on top but it is going to be unsustainable in the long run. And, Gonzaga goes big 12, they gonna take an eastern school BB only.
