Makes sense considering the cfp won't get extra money until the new deal, so they'd have to take money away from someone before giving it to SMU

Temple is a bad example because the Old Big East had to drop them to make room for UConn because the basketball schools didn’t want to upset the balance of power. That’s the way The Old Big East was run and why it self destructed.

It's all semantics and the end result is the same. And I get that the Big 12 had to add the AAC programs to survive and enable it to be in a position to grab the 4 corner schools. But if the timeline were different, Cinci would be a loser and Houston and UCF would still be on the outside too. And the ACC could very likely leave behind some more waste. The Big 12 would prefer to not have wasted slots on the AAC programs in favor of the ACC programs.

Kicking teams out is complicated. It's more than sports. Look at the B1G ---- they have the B1G Academic Alliance in which each school integrates many of its services/offerings/research with the other member schools. Also, each B1G school has partial ownership of the BTN. It's not as simple as "Well ok, you are kicked out of the B1G, now go away." I don't see any school getting kicked out. Plus, someone has to eat those football/basketball losses for the top brands.

I don‘t see anyone being kicked out. I see teams leaving en masse for a new football only league.

Technically TCU was in a BCS conference, they were invited to the Big East prior to Pitt and Syracuse leaving. They may not have officially started play in the conference at that point, but if the Big 12 had not invited them then they would be on the Losers list.

Classic Nelson Dunning-Kruger here: one cable executive with a long history of ridiculous statements makes a ridiculous statement, therefore it is the belief of all cable providers.
