Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

Link for the podcast please. UNC / UVA football won't raise the bar for either the SEC or B1G at all. FSU to B1G makes sense. Not to the SEC, which is all set in Florida via the Gators. Also, FSU does NOT want to be partners with those crooks at ESPN. Fox = BiG

Also I think you are gravely underestimating the value of UNC/UVA particularly UNC.

And truthfully there aren’t really any bar raisers left outside of the P2.

The B1G and SEC are not going to kick out the bottom feeders. They need teams to take those losses every year. If only the top brands existed in the conference, someone used to being at or near the top of the food chain will become the new bottom feeder, and I don't think any of the teams want to risk that. Conference records have to end with an overall .500 record. If a team goes 8-1 in conference play, someone else has to be 1-8, or some combination where the final overall conference record for everyone is .500.

Of course they will. Or at least force them into a reduced payout.

Why do Indiana, Rutgers and Vanderbilt deserve the same money as Michigan and Alabama?

Don't forget that if FSU, Clemson, UNC, and VA all move that forces the last real bar raiser (ND) into the P2

Right now there is the P2 and then the Big 12 and ACC. There have been talks of private equity getting involved, so why wouldn't a private equity firm try to create a P3? Take the best of the ACC and Big 12 and create a 3rd conference that could get a larger media contract than either the Big 12 or ACC? Take enough ACC schools to vote down the GORs. Drop schools that don't add much value. Use one of the streamers like Netflix of Amazon to create a conference channel.

"If Florida State can find an escape hatch out of the ACC’s Grant of Rights, it could trigger the exits of Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech, sources said."

The "break" could become a gaping wound, if Brett is to be believed.
Not sure about uva and va tech. Louisville may be able to get into B12

No it doesn't. People have been saying this for two decades now and ND still keeps getting games and TV money

According to some reporters, the two most attractive assets to the P2 in the ACC are UNC and UVa as they are new markets.

I assume UVA they're assuming richmond and norfolk (greater area)?

All due respect loyal, when you're trying to achieve a billion dollar endowment and $500 million on yearly research money, winning football games and realignment do not even register as a priority.
As much as academics try to deny , it winning big football games and getting boosters to open their wallets are certainly related .

The SEC does not want or need them.

Cultural fits don’t justify diluting the money.
Why do you assume ND has a grudge against the B1G ?
Their money people love their Independence and at ND it’s they not a media company that provides the vast bulk of their revenue .
They also prefer exclusive Network Television to insure exposure vs a league and sports media group competition
They can take less money vs exposure and control if necessary.

Yeah but that's only for athletic donations. Were talking about academics. People donating for the endowment and people deciding research grants give 2 cents whether a school wins big football games or not. Case in point Cal Berkeley and Stanford.

Why then is almost every major public research university an FBS member.

Interesting cases for sure. Billions and billions in endowment and these two elite California schools choose to join and fly their student-athletes to a southeastern athletic conference.

Nobody is leaving the NCAA. That would remove the liability shield other 1,100 schools help provide them, and leaving would certainly open up a massive anti-trust lawsuit.
What is for that antitrust suit? It seems like having another organization other than the NCAA creates more competition, not less.

If they leave and don't allow other schools the option to join, it becomes an anti-trust issue.

With all due respect. The two are linked.

Culturally, FSU and Clemson should be in the SEC and UNC and UVA should be in the B1G.

Money-wise and dealing with current weaknesses in the P2, it's the exact opposite. FSU and Clemson are worth more in the B1G and UNC and UVA are worth more in the SEC. Plus, FSU now has a grudge against ESPN and the SEC that is larger than the grudge Notre Dame has with the B1G.
UNC and UVA were in the same conference with Tennessee and Georgia and Alabama long ago. UNC didn’t even play a B10 team the first 60 years it played football. We should never be in a Midwest league. We are much more aligned with Atlanta and Nashville (SEC champ cities) than Chicago or Indianapolis (B10 counterparts).
