Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

This move solidified the end of the ACC. UConn's best move right now is to not make a bad knee-jerk move to a G5 conference and stand pat for the remnants of the impending ACC dissolution or pick up a future B12 invite.

It is unconscionable how stupid the ACC is to have added these three against the objections of their three biggest brands. There's no way this further solidifies the ACC GOR, if anything it provides those three more loopholes to get out of it. Remember when the Big East added SDSU and Boise? This is basically that, the beginning of the end.

This is Sprint football.
It'll never get as extreme as sprint football. I'm thinking more like

300lbs for interior O-line & D-line

250lbs for DE/TE

225 for LB, RB and QB

190 for DB, WR

I think this actually saves the ACC as an institution but destroys its competitiveness.

no, not a lawyer.

I said if they go full crazy. They very well could attempt to leave even if they technically can't. Some of these football schools live on a different planet.

I thought you were a lawyer.

Just walking out is not how contracts work, unless the leadership of FSU wants to personally be liable for the violations of the agreement and also risk jail time.

Yeah i don't think this will ever happen. FB was always the sport where the fat kid could be fat and still find a place to play.

Lol how?

In the scenario where FSU, Clemson, and UNC find a way out of the GOR to go elsewhere, that means a fourth likely comes along to prevent odd numbers - we'll say it's NC State over Duke. Perhaps they go to 6 and take Duke and Miami too. If those four/six are out, ND is right behind them out the door to full independence. Heck, the Big East should let them park their Olympic sports just for the hell of it.

Now you have an ACC of:
BC
Syracuse
Pitt
Wake
GT
Louisville
VT
UVA
SMU
Cal
Stanford

That group ain't surviving. It'd only be a matter of time before the two Virginias and GT find new homes, the three western teams realize this is a disaster. At that point, the Big East would be wise to propose an all-sports merger.

What I proposed is not a highly unlikely scenario. The ACC right now is a complete house of cards.

because FSU is leaving the ACC, its just a matter of when. It becomes cheaper every year
Not only cheaper, but this move likely makes it more legally plausible.

I'm not a lawyer so perhaps you can add more, but wouldn't this move give them the cover to say the league made moves against the best interest of the group and therefore the GOR should be nullified...or something to that effect?

unless somebody wants to tell me that there's a term in GOR that involves like double or triple penalties there will be a movement eventually. The question is, b10 or sec or both.

Hold on. When UConn did play rough, half this board, including you, lost your spit.

UConn's problem was geography. BCU convinced the ACC that it owned New England, and Syracuse convinced the ACC that they owned New York. Neither school will ever allow us in the ACC as a result, and that pretty much puts a stake in us with the ACC, which was always the most likely destination.

We never played rough.

You, as per usual, are off the wall.

Because there are probably only so many places to go. The ACC will just be AAC 2.0 but it'll have the brand and it'll stick around for a while

Ah…the term is Grant of Rights.

You can’t pledge your rights to another conference because they are already signed away.

I hate to say it - but that might happen. All depends what is said in the halls and behind closed doors at the ESPN Bowl/CFB industrial complex. We might have to join something as football only to keep post season access.

That tidbit about the 15-team rule is huge to understanding this to be honest. Pittsburgh and Syracuse will now be in a tv contract that makes much more than Kansas and Arizona even if UNC/Clemson/FSU leave.

Do you really think Disney would honor that contract if any key members left the ACC?

Here's an idea. Stanford, Cal and SMU need another West Coast school to reduce travel time, say it is SDSU. Let the ACC add SDSU and UConn at the same time. Maybe the B12 will get jealous and there is a war between the two conferences to get UConn/SDSU.

Expect us to make the same pitch this fall to be #18. Will the public hear about it - probably not. Unlike the past, this has been a year of pitching ideas and the pitching will continue.
