Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

We sold out multiple games this past season. In fact we outdrew UCONN by thousands so if nobody cares about us then what does that say about UCONN? Oh and also keep in mind that we had as many games in the Top 10 TV ratings in the Houston market as the entire Big 12. Let's also not forget that UCONN didn't draw a single game over 30k this past season. You guys are so desperate to try and discredit us that it's downright laughable. If you guys didn't try to sue the ACC, you'd probably be in it right now. UCONN has nobody to blame but themselves and perhaps Boston College.

Thats not very dude like for a hippy. Cmon man.

@Cougar Hippy WTF is Houston gonna do when UT comes calling for Hermann? Even if you get into the B-12..they can give him WHAT EVER he wants! And when he walks into ANY Texas HS in puke Burnt Orange (yes I was a OU/Brian Bosworth fan growing up) he certainly will carry a LOT more weight than wearing red and white of UH. Fertitta can say all he wants...Herman is gone to Austin if UT offers him the job! Then you'll be like Memphis fans are right now...talking about how their new coach will do as good or better than the one he replaced!

I don't know what's sadder - getting trolled by a fan of a school who is at best the 5th most relevant in their own state (behind UT, A&M, Tech and TCU and possibly tied with SMU) AND whose last greatest accomplishment was over 30 years ago (Phi Slamma Jamma), or thinking that if they do get in the B12, they will suddenly become more relevant?

Yet you Houston leeches are cashing checks earned from UConn's last two NS
Maybe you should return the money you did nothing to earn.

Wow if you replace the word "Houston," that story is still eerily familiar.

Nothing says confidence like arguing on another teams message board. Thanks for recognizing that UConn is a real threat.

Eyes on Texas: Five years later, yes, ESPN still ‘fully committed’ to LHN

Just about everyone has expressed some kind of opinion about the UT-centric network, which started with 20,000 subscribers in Texas five years ago but now boasts 20 million coast to coast.

As for the all the negativity, Stephanie Druley said she “stopped reading that a long time ago.” Over the last five years, the UT graduate launched the channel in 2011 and has seen her career rocket into the stratosphere at ESPN. Now a senior vice president, Druley is responsible for everything viewers see on all ESPN networks involving college sports, the NFL and Major League Baseball.

But LHN will always remain on her radar.

Druley said ESPN was charged with creating a platform for all UT sports that is, as stated in the contract, “first class in all respects.” To that end, ESPN has delivered the goods.

Thus, Druley says she has no intention of turning LHN into some kind of Big 12-centric network, as if that’s a cure-all in the current expansion hubbub.

“I’m not in the Big 12 business right now with that network specifically. That’s not the purpose of that network,” Druley said. “I don’t think we have a responsibility to be all things to the Big 12. We have a responsibility to be all things to Texas.”

I'm sorry, 20 million LHN subscribers? I call bullsnit.

And of course someone who is responsible for a complete failure would be rewarded up the chain at ESPN. Syracuse grads have perfected that model for years there.

20M is terrible when you consider 95M is a national network. No wonder ESPN is losing money.

They might count me as a subscriber because I get the sports package on DirecTV... that probably accounts for about 10M of the 20M. ;)

Actually when I think of Houston, (Dallas or San Antonio) I think of more UConn BB championships.

We have more basketball championships in Houston than Houston has anywhere. Hell, if I'm not mistaken, we have as many basketball championships in Houston alone than the entire state of Texas combined has in all cities in the country combined.

Come to think of it, we have only one fewer national championship then the entire membership of the Big XII has combined: Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State) 1945, 1946; and Kansas 1952, 1988, 2008. Houston hasn't made it past the Sweet Sixteen since 1984 which is a very Rutgers-like basketball resume.

I do remember Houston's basketball from my younger days....Elwin Hayes is my age and was a stud playing for them...when they played Lew Alcindor and UCLA way back in my day in the short short era, it was the first regular season game to be nationally televised.

That game was in the Astrodome, UCLA played awful Alcinder was injured and lost by a couple ,the rematch was a complete blowout.
I think it was the first Nationally Televised game in prime time

That's correct. UTEP (f/k/a Texas Western) won the 1966 NCAA men's national BB championship. It's the only team from TX to ever win it. The Final Four was played at Cole Field House on the U. of Maryland campus that year. UTEP is currently tied with us in NCAA team national championships.

I don't remember watching it on TV
I think I listened to on the Radio
That was Rupp's seven dwarfs
TW had a white player that started the semifinal game but probably because it was against KY of the SEC he chose to start five African American players. Sports played a big role in desegegration
I watched the game on TV, live.
