To me, this either means that UConn is a lock, or it means they’ve totally scratched UConn off the list of candidates, cause UConn would jump to the big 12 in a heartbeat
If we take the quote at face value, it’s bad news for us. Means one more spot and the “first to grab it wins”… AD Dave would’ve said yes after 1 minute on the phone with Yormark. Feels like they’re fishing for another PAC school. Our only chance is if PAC stays together.

Or 16. Pat Forde said that "Sixteen is the ideal the Big 12 wants".

Article on azcentral. shared odds for schools likely to join the Big 12...

Colorado is leaving the Pac-12 Conference for the Big 12 and speculation has immediately turned to which Pac-12 teams could potentially follow the Buffaloes.

Arizona State and Arizona are right in the middle of that speculation.

Will the Sun Devils and Wildcats be the next Pac-12 teams to leave the conference?

The two Arizona schools lead recent Sportsline.com Big 12 expansion odds to be the next Pac-12 teams to bolt for the Big 12, with Arizona at +300 and Arizona State at +400.

Utah is third at +600, with UConn fourth at +700. Gonzaga (+1200), San Diego State (+1500) and Memphis (+2000) round out the odds.

Think we all need to take a deep breath.
1. They could be just generating scarcity demand for 15 and 16
2. We’ve read yormarks stated criteria. We check many boxes

Lastly. I wouldn’t want to join any conference whose membership criteria is ‘whoever raises their hand first ‘

Yes. I think it’s an intentional “leak” to get teams (both Arizona’s) to jump ASAP.
Torres said something interesting along the lines of ASU has no idea what it's doing and that this move may not even be on their radar. How much of that is speculation who knows, but a quote like this from Dinich seems very sensational and narrative driven.

This is weighed by quite a bit of wishful thinking on my part but I believe 16 is the goal and the recent commentary is to push two of the four corner schools to jump.

If they were to add us before a final decision from the Arizona schools (or Utah) and then went to 16, the B-12 would basically be admitting to lying all along when they claimed 14 was the ideal number and that they were pushing Colorado to destroy the P-12.

Three more four corner schools makes little sense on quite a few levels. If they can announce that U of A and ASU both approached the B-12 to join as a package deal (even if the way it actually went down was different) and then add us as #16 the conference would have everything it's looking for without bearing the stigma of being the conference that destroyed the best conference in the west coast.

Would also say that in the Joel Klatt interview Yormark also mentioned a criteria would be a school that wants to be a partner with and help to grow the Big 12. Not schools just looking for a payday. I’m sure we’ve already expressed those desires and aren’t waiting around to see a media deal like other Pac schools are

I don’t like that. I’d prefer they keep 16 as an option as well.
Maybe it’s an intentional comment to start getting remaining pac members to not let this drag out before there are no seats left, and 16 is still in play.
Clearly they are targeting PAC and think of us as a last resort. Not Yormack, but other higher ups in the Big 12
I like our chances if it’s one.

Eh I think thats in reference to schools that won't bolt at the first chance to upgrade. Which really means schools that will have the opportunity to bolt at the first chance to upgrade (Washington and Oregon) because everyone would leave for the B1G or SEC

I agree with others that I'd be leery of those two if I were the Big XII

Borderline key/non-key

Cut off from tweet: “ The Big 12, I’m told, is prepared to move on UConn if Arizona does not make the jump.”

Bingo.
When you stated your preference was AU with UConn over CU with UConn I knew what side of sports you fell on. Yet you stuck with the statement that Colorado was the first domino going to happen and it was the necessary development before UConn's invite. Meanwhile every key and non key tweets brought to these threads changed stories several times throughout this recent set of developments.

I know last minute acts have thwarted us in the past but I felt as long as Yormack was a straight shooter he was going to do everything he could to get UConn into the Big12. We provide the northeast presence he's looking for and a bb powerhouse to add to the conference because he's betting bb will be the next $ driver. And unlike most of the negative UConn tweeters he's not concerned about past football performances. He vetted UConn thoroughly. Mora has not only improved our football performance. He's reached out to the coaches and communities in the north east establishing connections with future players.

I know you can't reveal your source. But most likely either you have some contact with the commissioner or his office or someone you trust does who is providing you information.

Regardless if UConn has to give up the BE I love the idea that Yormack wants to elevate basketball and not sacrifice it at the expense of football.

I’m starting to think GoKU doesn’t have a source. I’m starting to believe GoKU IS a source disguised as a Kansas fan
