Heard tramel on college sports radio today. Supposed talk about Gonzaga and UConn but only talked about UConn. Exaggerated the negatives and the positives about UConn were met with “yeah, but…”

Conferences should just give up on having numbers as part of their branding at this point
We saw how valuable the known brands are with the Big East name that has UConn basketball fans pretending it’s still 1998. If the league rebranded as the “Catholic 7” after they broke off, nobody would want to be in that conference. That’s why these conferences will never change names.

I'd love to know what we did to him. Is he that mad that we played Oklahoma in the fiesta bowl? I love how that gets held against us somehow. Like we forced our way into the game.

We did nothing to him. He’s a Syracuse grad and doesn’t want us to be in a better position than his alma mater.
Syracuse fans say we have nothing to offer a conference, so that makes a lot of sense. There’s always a good explanation.

Technically you would be right, by sheer number of scholarships. But find me 1 other school in the country where the women's BB coach makes more than the FB coach.
I will, if you can find me one of the school that the women's basketball coach has won 11 national championships.

He’s an Oklahoma University Grad… born, raised and still lives there. You’re thinking of Pete Thamel.

On a mission for somebody. The only negative is adding UConn makes Kansas and Baylor the second and third best BB teams in conference, and it will only take about 3 years for FB to be in the top half of the conference.

Trammel is from a portion of the country that disdains the northeast. They would just as soon never even think about New York and the northeast.

"Each of us will make our own independent analysis," Robbins said at the Future of College Athletics Summit hosted here by the University of Arizona. "My prediction is that we're all going to stay together as a Pac-12. There's 10 of us right now. I'm hopeful that the deal is going to be good enough to keep us together."

Robbins said he hasn't recently been in touch with Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark, but he "continues to talk to everyone" in the realignment space.

He did provide some clarity on any potential move, noting Arizona has the freedom to make a conference move agnostic of what in-state partner Arizona State decides. He cast that notion of a split as unlikely, however, considering his relationship with Arizona State president Michael Crow.

"We don't have to do the same thing," Robbins said. "But President Crow and I are very, very tight. I think it'd be unlikely that we'd be split up."

Kind of key

FWIW - a Greenwich guy.... attended Brunswick and currently sits on their board. I believe NBCsports presence in Stamford is almost entirely attributable to his locational preferences.

Does this mean anything for UConn? IDK - probably not- other than he ought to be pretty familiar with what is going on here should that ever have relevance.

I just really think if CU jumps, they’ll add CU and AZ, call that the replacement to OU/TX and close the door for a couple more years.

I didn't think it was quite that simple, but that wouldn't be surprising. As I've been saying, we're going to end up dealing with many similar attitudes if we join the conference.

Wait, first UConn recruits an excellent young player named Solo Ball. Then there's news that the Big 12 is interested in the UConn. Then there is news that the Big 12 will be playing some games in Mexico....

Anyone else seeing Senhor Testaculo's influence here?
