Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

Ironically, our football program probably has more fans than UH football. UH's most notable fan is Paul Wall.

You'd think y'all would have something better to do.

If UConn gets invited somewhere I can't imagine hanging out on a FIU board pi**ing on them.

Conference realignment is relative to many....it is as relevant to the ACC and FSU as it is to anyone, I'd say.

Movement of teams east of the Mississippi is felt all along the warp and the woof of the several conferences.

The changing way we access live sports, the evolving widening gulf in athletic revenue, the relative "weight" of a specific sport, market, or fan base, all are of interest to many.

If only the "many" had message boards of their own.

Houston is one Tom Herman job hop away from football obscurity in Texas. However, they could likely always hire the pillar of integrity Kevin Sumlin back once A&M has to pull an Art Briles on him.

I love all the Houston hate from a school with 0 Top 25 football finishes.

Look, UConn hoops is awesome. But let's not forget Kansas was left on its own (talking to the Big East) when Nebraska was heading to the Big 10 and the Pac 12 was talking to UT, Tech, A&M, Colo, OU and Ok St.

Point being, a great basketball tradition is a distant second to football when it comes to power conference realignment.

I love all of the self-proclaimed bravado from a fan of a school with 0 wins against a school with 0 Top 25 football finishes.

Look, Houston football had an awesome 2015 season. One. Awesome Season. Let's not forget a few things: the awesomest season in Houston history still features a loss to the team that you can't stop disrespecting.

Point being, one great football season is a distant second to an established athletic department with success in several sports on a BCS/"Power" level, large TV market saturation in markets that are not already well within the B12 footprint, a large fanbase that stretches all over the northeast (including New York and Boston), brand value that compares with over half of the current P5 members, TV ratings that stack up against everyone (even in bad seasons), academic ranking that closer resembles higher learning rather than a community college for chimps, and most importantly, a school that can easily support/justify a $30M/yr buy-in.

Let's be honest, if the B12 wanted to make a football-only grab, it would just add BYU and Boise and be done with it. But the B12 needs to weigh many more things that are far more important than one good football season (that still features a loss to the program that you can't stop putting down).

Real simple solution to your issue here...stay off our board!

Translation: I am a loser.

(postscript loser note: I could not edit the previous post on my blackberry Q10)

He sounds like a Rutgers fan.:D

Wow I thought I was a loser.

You may well be. Who would know better than yourself.

I am a football fan of many decades and watch many teams play...As Billybud, I have been on the WVU board since 2002 (the upheavals of the first BE CR)..and have near 15,000 posts.

I did participate on the VT board back in the early 2000's with folks like Mr. Jolly (now a mod), Jarrett's Dad, and VTTBI..that board (Scout) is pretty much now defunct.

I keep up with many teams and quite a few boards....from Hineygate (Ohio State) to Irish Illustrated to UConn Boneyard. That may not be your thing...but I don't think less of you for that. It is my thing and, having retired fairly early, I have had more time than most.

And I have enjoyed the hell out of it.

Classy Butch....Much too old for such nonsense...whoop

There will always be gatekeepers and xenophobics who resent those from outside of the tribe....it is part of message board life.

I get it.

I don't flame, I do give my viewpoint which should be divergent from some if not most in the northeast.

Use the ignore button and save yourself the anxiety.

after the big 12 meetings, i think most of the BY'ers have put this CR Forum on ignore.

Amen. The Big 12 proved itself to being exactly what we have all thought it was over the last several years: dysfunctional, weak and run 100% by Texas. The conference has no interest in its own future. Well, maybe the little fish secretly do because they'll likely be left without a pond to swim in once UT and OU bolt, assuming they can't glue themselves at the asshairs of their bigger brothers. But the only voice that matters in that conference has zero interest in giving up its LHN (they were given this right by the other 9 conference members...including OU...so hard to argue with that). The conference will likely use the data gathered by Navigate and BHV to try to squeeze more money out of their current deal until it's time to play CR Fire Drill. We were all just dumb suckers who went along for the ride.

The B12 is toast. But, if anything positive for UConn can come about any of this process, the message is getting out across the Mississippi that UConn is the biggest fish remaining. There isn't an important metric out there that UConn isn't #1 or #2 amongst G5 competition.

Metrics or not there are only two conferences that we could possibly fit in: ACC or B1G. Neither are interested at this time. Right now our best hope is to try and hold out until the Big 12 implodes and hope we can hook up with the flotsam. I'm encouraged by the direction the AD is taking. Obviously there is serious internl dialoge going on and the University will continue to put it's best foot forward despite what our resident Eeyore might say.

Um, that is not our best hope. Our best hope is much better than that. Its also more realistic.

What would that be?
1. The ACC forms a network and brings UConn in as the 16th member.
2. Big 12 expands and brings UConn in as 12th member.
3. The Big 10 expands in brings in UConn as one of the 16 or 18 or 20 members.

In fact, if the Big12 did implode and UConn was added with all the rejects to form an AAC on steroids, that is the worst case scenario in future expansion, not the best.

I feel like it's 2010 all over again.
maybe we should create a couple different threads so we can keep track of the various scenarios. we could have an ACC thread, a BIG thread, and even a Big 12 thread.

The problem with #16 in the ACC is the tease of Notre Dame....#15 (football) is being held open.

And it looks like it will be for a few years as tea leaves are sifted for omens.

Which in a lot of ways is just that... a huge tease... unless the P5/Playoff Consortium dictates that a team needs to be in a conference in order to play in the playoffs... Notre Dame won't join a conference. And they'll never do that because they all want Notre Dame in the playoffs.

You can't make up the arrogance and hypocracy of the Big 10's stance.

They would expand so they would only play themselves if God forbid the players saw some of the money they create instead of the coaches or admins. What a bunch of scumbags.

I've said this about the entire ncaa. Emmett as provost at uconn caused all, kinds of ups. Yet, this man goes on to make 7 figure salaries off the backs off student athletes. It's laughable.

# B1G source in Chicago at # BCS meetings telling us that # ND agreeing in principle to go to # Big12 as non-football member.

Some pretty big disagreements on new # BCS, but looks like the # Fab4 getting what they want, while # ACC and # BigEast on outside looking in.

This is interesting. #UConnNation #AmIRight?

Why Knoxville radio station? Am I missing something? Series dates with Tennessee have been rescheduled and announcement today? Going to SEC (lol!)? Or just brand building?

Does seem outside of the recruiting and marketing footprint.

Would be great to hear Diaco call out Tennessee admin for stalling on our series though.

Why on earth would non-ND schools want ND in the playoffs?

Heh... it's an old boys club... just look at who they put on the playoff committee... ESPN certainly does. It's not the schools that decide..
