Getting back to my man Julio, look at these stats:

.415 AVG. 1 HR 10 RBI 23 R .459 OBP
.443 AVG. 8 HR 17 RBI 21 R .473 OBP

Besides a bit more pop (and not much more production) , why is one guy a "no-brainer" for the All Star Game while another isn't even mentioned?

1 homer and 10 rbi? Not exactly scaring anyone.........................and how many times has he ever hit .415 or played in the majors?

Need to see a little more............by the way neither should be going. Papelbon is right for the 1st time in his life.......

Dodogers are 18-11 since calling Puig up. All he has done is crushed the ball and revitalized fans interest in the Dodgers.

To keep him out of the All Star game is another example of baseball being held back by its past and traditions.

The all star game is not a life time achievement award, it should be the best players in the game, and right now Puig has showed he is one of them.

I agree and he looks good but there has to be something said for those who have done it longer and with more consistency.......so every kid comes up and hits .4oo/8/17 in 29 games deserves to be an All Star?

Sorry can't keep out the .300/12/40 guy who has done if for 10 years already

I agree. Who knows? Puig could be another Bob Hurricane Hazle.

He is batting .443, not .400, and no one else has put up those numbers through their first 30 games. But if someone does yes.

I don't care if he's batting .500 the point is it's not 82 games..........he may very well deserve it after 82 games but the all star game is coming too soon!!

Both guys are very good thus far but neither deserve an all start sniff..........just one mans humble opinion!

Bob Hurricane Hazle came up to the Milwaukee Braves in 1957 and hit .403 in 41 games. He had an OPS of 1.126. He was on fire and no one could get him out. The Braves went on to beat the Yankees in seven games in the World Series. The following year he hit .211 and never saw the majors again.

He hit a ton in spring training and probably should have been with the big club all year. He is not lucky, he has learned to be selective. Inglesias is not the reincarnation of Carew but he looks like a ML hitter to me. Just exactly who has he looked over matched against? He is hitting over .400 against ML pitchers and it is no longer a small sample. I think your eyes are failing you in your advanced age.

My eyes may have been failing me but they don;t give up a slick fielding, .300 hitting SS/INF for Jake Peavy unless they think I'm closer to correct than you!! ;)

When you have guys like Xander Bogarts in the wings, you can do this deal.

FWIW, Will Middlebrooks will be called up as well.

Inglesas was hitting .470 and you guys proclaimed him an All Star with great hands who will now hit well in the ML's.......now you have better!!! Let's see as time moves on,.........they're all projects until they prove otherwise........I though Middlebrooks was going to be solid, look at him. Let's see Bogarts do it...........he could be the next failure too! That's why you trade these guys for the Lee's! Not necessarily Peavy though???

Here comes the Fung Wah!!!!! BEEP BEEP!

Here comes the Fung Wah!!!!! BEEP BEEP!

Remember when you used that same stupid line to talk about how dumb the Sox were for getting rid of Youk and how great he was for the Yanks?

How does that brilliant analysis look now?

Fung Wah is out of business as is this tired line of thinking. How dare the Sox make a trade and give up on a prospect. Clearly fan angst forced the front office to make this deal. Alas. To all the Sox players I've loved before, they've traveled in and out that Green Monster Door*, We're now mad they came at all, we forget about last fall, don't let the door hit you on the ...

FWIW I don't like the trade, Peavy is too old and injury prone. It is interesting though in that we now get to compare Iglesias to Xander - hopefully both do well. Oh no wait, I forgot... hopefully Iglesias hits .199 because all Red Sox fans are ___

*sometimes to pee

I know this is your thing but after you being right about Kazmir what does a genius like you think about this trade?

I think the Sox got a little desperate and I'm not a big fan of Peavy. He hasn't been healthy 3 of the last 4 years and pitching in late fall in the Northeast is a lot different than San Diego in August. I think Chicago sold high on him and got potentially got a very good SS out of it.

Additionally....

1) The Sox banked on Middlebrooks being ready and that hasn't worked out as planned.
2) The Sox kept Bradley up to start the season, lost some contract fluff and timing and that hasn't worked out as planned.
3) Here, they now hope Bogaerts will be MLB ready very soon on a contending team. We'll see how it turns out.

I saw Middlebrooks at Pawtucket on Sunday and he is still royally screwed up at the plate. Timing is way off. If they're counting on him to produce they're going to be disappointed.

.-.
I feel exactly the same as I felt about Pasqualoni a few years ago. He wasn't my guy yesterday but he is today. Unfortunately, things will probably turn out the same.

Chicago didnt get a SS

Yet, somehow they are just 1 game off from having the best record in MLB. Bunch of screw-ups.

Iglesias will have a good career, but with middlebrooks, Bogaerts, and Checchini, there was not going to be much room for him long term in Boston. Trade makes sense for al involved. Not so sure they will throw Bogaerts into the pnnant race, would not be surprised if they picked up Michael Young today, or in August.

And I don't get point 2. The plan all along was for Bradley to play AAA. He had a great spring and forced his way on to the team. And if he played well enough to stay they would have lost a year. But he struggled and was sent down and they didnt lose the service time. Hopefully the year in AAA will help.

I don't like the trade. I had visions of Iglesias out at shortstop for the next 10 years or more. He is one of the best fielding shortstops in a long while and I think he will learn to hit enough to stay in the lineup. Bogaerts is going to be a great hitter but he is not know for his defense. Peavy's best years are behind him. The trade tells me that Buchholtz is not going to pitch this year. I would have been willing to forgo the playoffs this year and let guys like Workman and Britton get some experience.

I believe when Bradley was sent back down in April, he spent sufficient time in the minors prior to his second call up, in order not to trigger his first FA year until after 2019. All indications is that Bogaerts has slightly less in the fielding dept. but is still above average and he hits better, making him a better all-around prospect.

As a Sox fan, I love the deal...
