Our guards play better with Clingan bc he doesn’t demand the ball. They get to playCan’t develop a leader at PG by bringing in transfers who don’t know the program.
We need a guard who can take his guy off of the dribble consistently. I’m tired of watching Newton play like he’s running on flat tiresYes but it coaching too. The plan is designed for an inefficient high usage center. It was a nice thought but sample size is in. And then we added a big usage inefficient point guard. Nice numbers ( Newton last year at ECU, Sanogo last two years) but ultimately losing players to build around. Sanogo shot under 50 tonight that’s unacceptable for a center, I’ve been saying that for two years I didn’t even like his usage in creighton win. It’s long term fools gold. And combine that with how many turnovers we get trying to force feed him via coaching and we see what we get. Nice kid good player. Not a centerpiece. As long as he is a centerpiece instead of a piece this is us.
Sanogo played 28 minutesSanogo is so gassed bc our coaching staff refuses to play clignan
Why the hell weren't BOTH of them in there to be sure to grab the board? If Clingan is in on defense, he grabs that rebound and we win. That’s coaching.
Do you see how the staff plays him?Sanogo played 28 minutes
+1The transfer portal looked like a sexy move after the first 14 games.
This is the walk of shame now.
Because Hurley doesn’t know how to coachWhy the hell weren't BOTH of them in there to be sure to grab the board?
You mean the one he missed? He should have went up with authority and dunked that. Can he even jump?I mean Sanogo front ended a wide open layup to go up 3 with 50 seconds. That’s not coaching
I’m not “defending” anyone. But that missed layup absolutely cost us the gameWho created the offensive and defensive styles? Who puts in the lineups? At some point the defending of the ineptitude has got to stop. That’s how we get here. Four years of this. That missed layup didn’t cost us the game. How about the 10+ turnovers in the second half trying to force feed sanogo and giving up a double digit lead. Again
Agree 100%. Not playing zone in the second half was a criminal offense. It's definitely part coaching. Both seton hall and St johns can't shoot. We play a 2-3 zone with DC in the middle we don't get in foul trouble and we don't lose. Seton Hall is small - now way they could handle the both of them on the Offensive end. Instead we adjust our lineup to the other team's lineup like we always do. And how Clinigan wasn't in to protect the rim at the end there is a coaching felony!!!!
Like any of tonight was Newton's fault. C'mon. The transfer portal looked like a sexy move after the first 14 games.

Dude what are you talking about? We were up double digits and pissed the game away. We were cooking. Then we went back to force feeding sanogo and not playing Clingan.I’m not “defending” anyone. But that missed layup absolutely cost us the game
No they weren’t. Almost all we’re trying to get them to sanogoThe turnovers were from wilting under ball pressure by the guards.
This. It's all coaching. Hurley took the long process of building this thing and has talked nonstop about culture and toughness. It's now year 5 with nothing to show for it and we're still as fragile as it gets. Five seasons with a bunch of different players throughout and they always wilt.
Meanwhile Sean Miller comes in year one and has his team ranked #8 in the country and they look like an offensive juggernaut. Shaka Smart comes into Marquette and takes them to the tournament his first season and now they're #20 in the country in his second season. UConn has a lot more talent than either team on paper. I can name a bunch of other coaches who turned their programs around right away.
It's all about coaching or a lack of coaching.
he got plenty of credit when they were 14-0. it has to go both ways. For everyone blaming Hurley for the loss, would he have gotten credit for the win? I didn’t think so
Hard to disagree with this. When the game gets close we meet like butter on a hot griddle. It's mentally soft players. Full stop.
Adama had hands of stone tonight. No they weren’t. Almost all we’re trying to get them to sanogo
They made 4 three’sAgree 100%. Not playing zone in the second half was a criminal offense.
