Is University of New Haven Going To Go FCS?

See how quick + easy it's to move up to a bigger, more high profile conference. Yet UC has spent a lifetime trying to do that. Maybe UNH administration + athletic dept can give us a few tips on how that's done.
There are D2 conferences better than the NEC... Calling this a move up to a bigger and more high profile conference should be debated.

Lol the NEC is desperate for member and UNH was one of only two realistic candidates.

Really surprised in this day and age of money, money, money that any small school would think about, and actually move up to D1.
Aside from New Haven’s criminal justice and some grad programs, and many international students paying full fare, it’s similarly financially challenging to understand the school’s attraction absent sizable financial aid (particularly for CT residents who might otherwise go to CT State directionals). Maybe low D1 sports add something in the face of enrollment cliff challenges.

Former coach believes transition to Division I allows New Haven to 'control their destiny'

The Peterson Performance Center, a three-floor $10 million, 36,000-foot athletic facility with a state-of-the-art training center complete with locker rooms, a nutrition center and conference rooms has become the centerpiece of New Haven’s 15-year process of embracing a move from Division II to Division <-

-> “When you look at higher education, it is really trying to find its way right now,” said Palmer, who now works for the NFL office in New York. “Universities are closing left and right. The NIL that major colleges are dealing with, it is like the wild, wild west out there. Kids are taking gap years. Every university is looking for as many students as they can get. People that never advertise their universities are advertising all over the place.

“The universities like New Haven that are being proactive trying to find their place in this new environment are doing the right thing. Being aggressive, you can chart your own course. Being passive, they will chart the course for you. I commend the president and board of governors at New Haven. What they are doing is outstanding, because it will allow them more opportunities, and they control their destiny.” <-

-> “Geographically adding New Haven is a great move for us,” Pincince said. “The last few schools we have added in the conference have added some significant travel for some of our teams. So, to have a team in our back yard that we can play against on a regular basis is great. It doesn’t really take away from class time. It is an easier back-and-forth for us. <-

-> Mr. Crosby additionally shared that Michigan, UConn, and Penn State are all in the works to appear on their basketball schedule, so stay tuned for more information as New Haven transitions to Division I. <-

Mr. Crosby stated they are opening a branch in Saudi Arabia. They could probably schedule some football games at the Yale Bowl less than 2 miles away.

Plenty of seating at the Yale Bowl... Good idea I think... makes a lot of sense...

The Chargers' mascot is Charlie the Charger, a horse, and their football field looks like Boise State's. But why "Chargers?"

"The two most common kinds of horses used for jousting were warmblood chargers and larger destriers. Chargers were medium-weight horses bred and trained for agility and stamina. Destriers were heavier, similar to today's Andalusian horse, but not as large as the modern draft horse."

It’s a popular school for athletes and they give scholarships. I spent a lot of time there in a certificate program. They do some good stuff there.

1 D1 - major conf (Albany)
3 D1 - future conference mates (LIU, MercyH, Duq)
2 D1 - Independents (SHU, Merr)
1 D1 - non-schol (Marist)
2 D2 - Saginaw, Pace
1 D3 - WesternCT
