Really surprised in this day and age of money, money, money that any small school would think about, and actually move up to D1.

Aside from New Haven’s criminal justice and some grad programs, and many international students paying full fare, it’s similarly financially challenging to understand the school’s attraction absent sizable financial aid (particularly for CT residents who might otherwise go to CT State directionals). Maybe low D1 sports add something in the face of enrollment cliff challenges.

Former coach believes transition to Division I allows New Haven to 'control their destiny'

The Peterson Performance Center, a three-floor $10 million, 36,000-foot athletic facility with a state-of-the-art training center complete with locker rooms, a nutrition center and conference rooms has become the centerpiece of New Haven’s 15-year process of embracing a move from Division II to Division <-

-> “When you look at higher education, it is really trying to find its way right now,” said Palmer, who now works for the NFL office in New York. “Universities are closing left and right. The NIL that major colleges are dealing with, it is like the wild, wild west out there. Kids are taking gap years. Every university is looking for as many students as they can get. People that never advertise their universities are advertising all over the place.

“The universities like New Haven that are being proactive trying to find their place in this new environment are doing the right thing. Being aggressive, you can chart your own course. Being passive, they will chart the course for you. I commend the president and board of governors at New Haven. What they are doing is outstanding, because it will allow them more opportunities, and they control their destiny.” <-

Mr. Crosby stated they are opening a branch in Saudi Arabia. They could probably schedule some football games at the Yale Bowl less than 2 miles away.

It’s a popular school for athletes and they give scholarships. I spent a lot of time there in a certificate program. They do some good stuff there.
