How to fix the Big East

Yeah, it's a thing and it comes with the world of Social Media and age of information. Those schools down there are big, colorful, united, and WARM. There are people/parents migrating down there for cost of living. I'm expecting the SEC and B12 to continue mopping up on top recruits.

The majority of 247 top 50 have signed, except for a handful of the most highly rated kids. No BE teams are in on those handful of of non signed. The BE has 3, 2 Uconn and 1 Gtown. That's where we are.

Big East has 4.

The rules changed: they can only spend about $21 million total on revenue sharing for both football and basketball. The average P4 school is expected to spend $4-5 million on revenue sharing for basketball. The Big East is expected to average $6 million per school. Of course, some schools will still have bag men.
revenue sharing is not NIL. Two different payment streams to players. NIL was passed and later the house approved direct revenue sharing to the tune of $21M.

I don't think it will impact top athletes either but Big East schools certainly aren't going anywhere, they're most likely going to gain in popularity.
I’m not sure how church attendance translates to more people ponying up $90k per year for a product that can be had for half the price or less elsewhere.

Who's the 4th?

Fairly disproportionate anyway when you realize the other 46-47 are going SEC, ACC, B12 & B10 (12 each).
Adam Oumiddoch St. John's.

You're also comparing conferences who are much bigger than the Big East. Big East is 11 schools. That's 67 schools you're talking about and they have 36 commitments out of the top 50 recruits.

Any way you cut it, they’re going elsewhere. If you look at the weighting of it, we aren’t in the top 20.

I don't know what this means.
Seems you’re trying to spin this as the BE is at a disadvantage due to members. Who in our league can even attract a top 50 recruit?

Us, StJ, Gtown, Nova?

Missouri has two top 20 players - why? Oklahoma St, South Carolina and Pitt have top 32 guys. Why? Our bottom dwellers aren’t getting these kind of kids.

247 has the StJ kid at 52 fyi.

I'm not trying to do anything, your numbers aren't correct so I corrected them. I didn't understand your last post so I said "I don't know what this means."
Outside UConn the top 25 freshman for basketball are not coming to the Big East.

I'm aware of where the recruits are going. I went through the list of top 50 recruits for next season, you can see that in the posts above yours. Georgetown has #19 Alex Constanza, UConn has #28 Colben Landrew and #40 Junior County, and St. John's has #46 Adam Oumiddoch. 36 of the top 50 recruits so far have committed to the 67 schools in the ACC, Big 10, SEC, Big 12.

Cooley did get a guy this year, 20th - guy can sell. Between getting Sorber, Lewis, he’s hustling. I’d embrace Gtown getting good on our way out of here.

I get why you're cutting it off at 50, because it's a nice cutoff point. But it's ultimately just a narrative that you can spin any way you want it. 3 in the top 50 might not sound great, but 6 in the top 57 sounds pretty good

Didn’t notice - but go ahead and pound your pointless BE drum and keep the head in the beach.

Do you realize how expensive it is to be competitive in football? Have you noticed that half the P4 isn't trying anymore?
And that half will have a competitive edge in bb over non power conferences as they divert more funds away from football and apply it to their bb programs. They already have the attraction for recruits and transfers who want to play against better teams in better conferences. I expect the B12 to be the conference that leads this with the SEC and BIG quickly following.

The power conferences ultimate goal of not sharing tournament revenue with hundreds of schools will be realized. They have gamed the football championships for decades. That is their model and it would be foolish to believe that is not their intention for bb.

Revenue sharing and NIL are two different things. Sure the Big East can spend more revenue sharing on basketball, but NIL takes everything in a different direction.

Big schools with a lot of wealthy alums or ties to corporations will use NIL to make Big East revenue sharing almost useless. You don't get a Dybantsa with revenue sharing - you get him with NIL.

The only use of revenue sharing is building out the mid to end of your roster for top teams. If most of the Big East has to use revenue sharing to build the top end of their roster, they are sunk.

Get into one of the top 2 or 3 conferences or you're done in the near future.
Hate to say it, but this is spot one

Curious what Dybantsa would have gotten, even illegally, if he was a 2026 recruit with the new rules. Probably not close to what he got from BYU. No wonder why he reclassified.

One thing I've thought about - if a company wants to pay you a million dollars to say "I like Starbucks coffee" and the clearing house or whatever says, 'no - too much', wouldn't you just sue the clearing house? If someone wants to pay you for NIL, I don't see how anyone can limit that.

I don't see how any 'oversight committee' can limit what you can get paid for Name, Image, Likeness.

The big payouts will continue.

It is a slippery slope. What is "market" for those services? What someone will pay? Once the can of worms was opened there is no going back and I don't really know how the NCAA, or any governing body, is going to enforce any rules.

That was Pitino's whole point and why he focuses his rebuild with the portal with NIL

He recently took a commitment from a high school senior. I wonder whether he's reconsidering his initial stance or is this just a one off?
