And the BIG question remains ... who the frig voted in Tulane?
The 7 are denying it & using it as an excuse to exit. Rutgers was already gone. Louisville PLUS Three doesn't do it. PLUS Four doesn't do it. I have a really tough time understanding what has happened.
I've always been a big believer in "follow the money."
I'm not saying whether the Catholics will or won't break away, as stated by McMurphy. But I'm having a hard time "finding" the money for them. Even if they were to join forces with the A-10, it still wouldn't provide them with the money that they would receive in the much weakened Big East, even using Dodd's speculated numbers (CBS).
Since I don't see the money yet, I'll wait until there is actually an announcement that is made from the Catholic-7. Then, if they do....I'll properly myself...
u guys are missing on the tulane invite. the bball schools pubically nay nay'd it. but in private i bet they voted for it. it gives them the last and perfect excuse to finally break away.
uconn needs to keep its bball in the same conf as its fball no matter what. we can play any team ooc, were uconn. we can schedule a alliance ooc with the big east bballs to play a bunch of them to help our rpi and relationships in the future. the bball schools and uconn both know this.
If they cared about money, they'd try football.
It's about pride.
It's about not being pushed around any more.
It's about controlling their own futures for a change.

The money has certainly been reduced - but the product has been absolutely massacred.
Providence needs to sell basketball tickets. TV money is great, but they need to sell tickets. That's easy when you have Syracuse, Pitt, UConn, Louisville and West Virginia coming in.
It's not possible with Tulane, UCF and Houston.
They're running a business and every business has a pivot point - they've reached theirs'. They're better off splitting away, trying to lure some A10 schools into a strong hoop conference and making a go of it.
Like everyone else, they're looking out for their best interests.
I think it's close enough to a wash in either direction to make the thought of having to a) stomach being in a conference with Tulane, UCF, UH, etc., and b) having to deal with the logistics of shipping teams to and from those schools thoroughly unappealing.
You should go to bed.South:

I would laugh if I didn't feel like crying....
