Hey Dan….. (merged threads)

Many mea culpas from me today. I love our starting 5, but other than AJ, they weren’t great today. Probably need more subs to wear down an X team without much depth. Oh well, Happy New Year to all!

We talk about our depth all the time, Hurley talks about it all the time. Yet we keep in Karaban and Newton who were total negatives, and Adama wasn’t a ton better regardless of stats. Just doesn’t make sense.

I don’t care that Andre made some 3s. This kid should NEVER take 12 3s in a game.

Also we don’t get free throws because we don’t go to the rim guys. It’s simple. Xavier does, and they got calls.

Y’all still believe in Hurley ??

Hurley's T just can't happen. It was awful.
His not using the team's greatest asset, it's depth, was just as awful.

Karaban and Sanogo couldn't guard anyone and somehow Sanogo plays 33 minutes and Clingan plays 7, then Hurley loses is composure with the game on the line and the team follows his lead losing their composure. I hoped Hurley was beyond this stuff at this point, he was outcoached today which would be easier to accept (Miller is a really good coach) if he didn't blow our chances with the tech.

A loss on the road to a really good X team is fine but I hate the way it happened and it makes me a bit nervous.

Also, we need Samson back. Karaban needs more rest overall and some matchups are just bad for him, today was a terrible matchup for him and Hurley left him out there to get abused. X was the fresher team which should never be the case with our depth.

For all intensive purposes that T didn’t lose the game for us. It was the overall difference at the stripe. And we had that cold game from outside that we said would cause our chances of losing to a good team to increase. No outside allowed the size of x fronts guys to shroud adama. Let’s not act like x does not posses a very good and experienced front line.
There are other factors with the T. The crowd gets super into it. And they get free points. Pushing it to a 6 point game lost the game. The coach getting a T with 2 minutes left is a terrible look.

Yes on both points....can't get a T in that game at that point....total screw up.

And mix up the line ups...Diarra & Alleyne needed mins in the last 10 mins.

You said would a better set of refs called it. Yes, because other refs have and he has the reputation. Refs know he does stuff like this.
We'll just disagree about this. There are no facts either of us can bring to back this up.

The fact is they did just as Nova did. Make us take 30 plus threes. Make sure Hawkins and Joey ain’t the ones taking them. The rest are not great shooters.

We have no one who can take it to the rim. That is our downfall this year.

He embarrassed himself tonight. We all knew this was going to be a tough game. Blowing your lineup management and getting a T at the worst possible time is a disgrace.

He's been much, much better this year so far. I think a loud away game in a hostile environment just made him forget all the stuff he changed about his coaching this off-season.

He'll be better next time. Coaches need to improve just like players--it's all a part of the game.
A+ post. Nice to see an even handed post out here after a loss. They are 14-1. Did anyone think they would have that record at this point?

Dan and everyone else will learn from this loss. There is a lot to dissect from it. No one in their right mind had this game as a sure W for the Huskies. If they go back to the drawing board over the next few days, as I suspect they will, they will be ready to face an equally tough Providence on Wednesday.

Perhaps the Refs are never giving us any respect because Danny screams that they are clowns on national TV? We win that game if its evenly called - things like Xavier player hopping on one foot in front of a ref is an obvious travel.

Diarra needed to be out there the last 8 mins...brings energy on D and 2nd ball handler. I guess Karaban had to be out there with size of X but Dan Hurley should have been way way more creative with lineups the last 8 mins.
I mentioned league play has been challenging early and I think it comes down to Tristan adjusting. He seems a bit “too cool” with his lack of snap on passes and court awareness. He’s gonna get out of it but it has been obvious as the deference to Dre as prime facilitator is clear as day

I’d rather lose this to them now & kick the *%#+ out of them heading into tourni season.

Also, how is Sean Miller allowed to coach again?
Problem is, they packed the middle and there wasn't much room to go anywhere. Disappointed with Hawkins today, didn't seem to have a lot of energy

I think the environment got to a lot of guys, Hurley included. It was loud in there, loudest unfriendly arena we've played all year. He definitely won't be proud of this game, but I think this is a learning experience. These are the environments we'll have to win in later on in the season.

Andre had a great game, and I think he can shoot, but I still don't know if I want him shooting 3 3's in the last minute and a half of the game. I'd love to see us put teams under a bit more pressure by going to the rim early in the game. Xavier had nothing to fear and no foul trouble once it was crunch time.

Providence sucks compared to X. I wouldn't be surprised if half their fans leave by the under 12... in the first half.

This team is going to be angry.

PC is not equally as tough as Xavier. The Dunk is a tough place to play though
